Anxious For our 2016 FC FB

We finally bit the bullet and moved up from our 2010 FC 20 to a 2016 FC 25'FB twin. Bought the trailer at Airstream Adventures in Fairfield, CA., they had 80-different Airstream configurations in a large warehouse there, I was impressed!
My wife sent our new Baby to Ultimate Airstreams in Oregon just south of Portland. They are going to replace/enlarge the dinette and add more cabinetry and large work surface/buffet top (we lost about 45 inches of our lounge). We did get a two piece dinette so that half the dinette area can be made into a lounge area and the dinette will still seat three.

We also had a Micro/convection built into the cabinetry and kept our gas oven (my wife always uses the gas oven when we dry camp).
We upgraded the batteries to 2-6V AGM's taking advantage of the deeper battery box coming out of the factory these days.

We'll get our baby in another two or three weeks, hopefully before Christmas.
I will post pictures when we get the rig.

Sounds amazing. I'm always impressed with the pictures I see of the work they do at Ultimate. Post pictures when it's all done! Love to see the work they did.

Are you going with the 25 Grand Lounge Gourmet conversion? How much lead time does this company need to start the project. How long will it take for them to complete the project?

Thanks.

Stuart, over at Ultimate is most helpful he told us it was probably going to take two to three weeks to complete the remodel. I called the upholstery color in today, he figures it will be back to Fairfield in two more weeks.
We are excited!

Man oh man, I want your remodeling too. Especially a change in the dinette similar to yours. (But we only have a 23'FC - don't know if I could get it.) Really looking forward to photos.

Congratulations on your new baby. We can't wait to see the pictures of your modifications. It sounds like it's going to be great.

Thank You! to all.

I followed the link to projects by Ultimate Airstreams (in OTRA15 message) and the last project is the "Grand Gourmet" 25FB. Identical to our mod, we changed the upholstery color to Taupe versus the Buff color in the pictures.

We missed the outdoor speaker install they did on the photos of the "Oregon Beavers" FC20.

I'm going to call Stuart at Ultimate on Monday and see if it's possible to add them before our Baby comes home.

Good idea Terry! Is Mountain Charley's still on Main Street in Los Gatos and still serving San Miguel dark?

Well our Baby is back in Fairfield, Ca., they're installing the solar panel and upgrading our batteries to 6v AGM's. We will pick her up on Wednesday, what better Christmas present. We are thrilled!

Did you mean you replaced the fan & cabinet with a microwave/fan combo?

No,we added additional cabinetry and had the microwave/convection oven built into the new cabinet. My wife found in the stock 25FB, there was nowhere for her to store her 15" cast iron skillet (unless we kept it in the front outdoor storage locker). The guys at Ultimate Airstream also added additional clips to keep the pots and pans drawer from coming open while transporting the trailer from point A to point B.
So now we will have the gas range/oven and the micro/convection when we are hooked up to AC power.

Hope you can take some detailed photos of the cabinet and drawers pulled out. We are considering a cabinet being installed under the TV in our 25fb. It would be interesting to see how this renovation changes the weight and tongue weight of the trailer.

Did they give you any specifics of the weight of the trailer after the changes?

We lived in Mountain View back in the 80s where I worked for Northern Telecom. Loved to visit Los Gatos. Had dinner in the Chart House in the old Victorian building. Looks like its a different restaurant now.

Looking forward to a full report and photos in the New Year when you have a chance. Appreciated your thoughts on the move from the FC20 on that other thread.

Merry Christmas, and yes what a great present . . . !

Cheers,

Peter

PS -- If you could specify the added drawer-retaining clips etc. you just got, that would be great (when you have a chance). The large drawer under the range/oven in our FC20 came out during the first trip home from the dealer, and those drawer slides are a PITA (all of them). Never saw the brand before, and would love to upgrade them at some point. Thanks.

TerryC, were you able to pick up your Airstream or has there been a delay. Hope you can post photos of the interior changes.

WE purchased our trailer on 11/20 and picked up our trailer on the 23rd. of December.
I know when ordering a new trailer from the factory the wait is 90+/- days (we went through the wait when we ordered our FC20 in 2010).
Airstream Adventures in Fairfield where we bought our trailer has over eighty (80) new trailers in stock. Most folks don't order from the factory, they find something there.
I haven't had a chance to post photos yet (soon). One thing I can state so far is the storage capacity in the FC25's is about half of what we had in our FC20.
We are getting creative as to what we keep on board and where. Remember we added additional cabinetry and galley work surfaces at Ultimate Airstream in Portland, Or. The FC25 still doesn't compare to the FC20. I will say the FC25 is much more open and airy, but you hhave to compromise somewhere.
I will post pictures soon.

Thanks. Please take photos of the extra cabinet with the doors/drawers open so we can see how much space. Also if you can take measurements. I'm considering having someone do a similar mod. I might want to plagiarize your modifications.

Thanks

Kelvin
