Thanks everyone for the answers, really appreciate it! It is good news the window can open (with bikes off).

I was at a dealer in michigan and they install a 2 inch receiver for a bike rack only across the frame in the back. Looks really nice the steel is powder coated and is the same color as the airstream frame.

We use a front receiver hitch on our truck for our bike rack. This allows to take our bikes to other places without the trailer.

Our rear window will open with the Fiamma rack and bikes (1 mens, 1 wmns mtn bike) installed. Took a little tweaking of the trays to the extreme left and right but window opens and rear awning can be fully deployed.

My Fiama Rack on 2013 International 19.

The rack weighs 25 lbs, bikes average around 27 lbs each.

No access problems.....I've adjusted to reaching around when bikes loaded. I usually put a piece of pipe insulation foam around the chainring to avoid arm scratching while reaching into the compartment.

The wheel troughs are so close that you need to isolate the bikes from on another to avoid scratching. Fiama make a carrier for VW vans, T2 or T3 that have greater separation between troughs. I'm looking into adapting that to mine.

I also I stalled a 2 inch receiver on the rear AS bumper. It looks great. I already had a nice bike rack and could not see getting another one and then try and find a place to store. It's the best of both worlds. Click image for larger version

Correction. It's just under bumper bolted to frame.

The rear window on our trailer is the fire exit, so any impediment would be a safety issue.

Only when the bikes are mounted.

You can chain and lock them, but in nearly 30 months total time on the road we have seldom locked them and they are still here.

Airstream sent out a safety recall to Fiamma owners a few months ago. A warning about blocking the rear window and a warning sticker for the window were included.

Bike Racks

After a year and one half no problems whatsoever on our 2014 27'
FC. We liked it so much we had one installed on our 2015 30'.
I could always deploy the awning with the bikes on, but was only able to partially open the window.
