Table conversion.

Checked my "Rails" and they are not wide enough. It would fall down if i sat on it ! It's maybe on 1/16 inch. Plus it's not parallel front to back.
I think two "short "table post would also be a good fix. Will contact customer service today.

I'm two months into traveling with my 26U. Love it but there is a big problem, as others have experienced too, the dinette bed is faulty and dangerous.

My daughter flew in to join me this week and the first night and second night sleeping with the dinette converted to the bed fell through during the night. She's young but someone of older age could be seriously hurt. Warning to others, it seems secure and then it's not.

How something like this could ever get past design, construction and QC absolutely baffles me.

Hopefully you contacted Airstream prior to posting. If so what did they have to say.

I have sent an email to their customer support and referenced AirForum incidences with the same issue. When and if I get a response I will post back to this thread.

Table Conversion

Cust. Srvc. sent me an email with the table diag. They asked for measurement's of gap . They will send out new table and rails as needed.
I said i will try rails first. Have concern that larger table might be more difficult to get into storeage. Await rails.
They were very helpful.

Airstream customer support responded to the dinette bed collapsing. Here is there response:

"
Thank you for contacting us regarding the issues you have been having with your Airstream 26U Flying Cloud. We have recently become aware of the issues that some customers are having regarding the dinette table in that model. What I can do is order a larger table and rails that will adequately fill the space and increase the stability of the table when made into a bed. If you could, please take a look at the attached documents and get me a measurement of the gap between the two sides of the dinette. Basically, I need to find out the needed dimensions of the table so that it will not fall through the stops. You could also take the unit to your local Airstream dealer and I can work with them to get the issue resolved. Please let me know and I will get the needed parts ordered. Again, I do apologize for the issues with the table, we are working to correct the issues. Have a great day!!"

Thanks to you fellows for bringing this table top problem to the forefront.

Just checked my bed arrangement, and sure enough I've got at least a 5/8" gap when tops are pushed up tight on the opposite side.

Will now get in touch with AS....will probably go to JC in the fall to have a few other issues taken care of.

Good that Airstream seems to now be on top of this issue. Unfortunetly with better R&D and QC it should of been found and corrected before the model ever went into production. I still believe that this is the best layout that Airstream has come up with in a long time. Now I just need that winning lottery number and I will have one.

There is an old saying " NEVER BUY SOMETHING BUILT/MADE ON FRIDAY, PRIOR TO A HOLIDAY OR THE FIRST MODEL YEAR"

And the other old saying, "Measure twice , cut once". Don't think AS did this one :-)

The AS factory just sent me a message that they are well aware of the Table Top/Bed problem in the 26U.

I was offered all replacement parts....have just replied to them that I'll make an appointment at the MotherShip and have that and some other imperfections fixed. I'm about 5 hours away from the factory.

Nice to hear they stepped up.

I have been in touch with them about the same issue. They are sending me larger ledges for the table. Mine was a 3/8 gap.

I can't get photos as the trailer is in storage out of town. I believe they installed a fan to blow the heat out the exhaust vent. Also put some heat barrier material between the fridge and cabinet. I will try to get photos when I pick up the trailer.

Arrival

Congrat's. You going to love the layout.Get out and enjoy as soon as you can. Going into 5th month in our's.(3 all at once) Just got back from another trip, about week of boondocking. Fridge worked on propane great. Outside temp was 90. I think using all the awning's help. Also made the insulated foil insert's for the windows.
Enjoy your new trailer.

Congrats.....check out the dinette table top/bed problem referenced above before you leave the dealers lot. Minor fix if you have that defect.
