I just looked on line and found that a standard twin mattress is 75" by 39". A twin XL mattress is 80" by 39".
This puts the Airstream twin kind of in the middle. Lengthwise, it's right in the middle. Widthwise, it is 5" narrower.

In our Classic, the two twin mattress were purchased from Rocky Mountain Mattress. After seeing how these fit, we could easily have had them five inches longer to fill the curve at the back and goto the bottom of the support board at the foot. There would still be about 10" to the wall. Width is constrained by the night center cabinet/drawer. The mattress we ordered was 8" thick which the Airstream 600 thread custom sheets fit perfectly.

If the memory foam is just foam without a cloth cover, then you can cut the foam to any length you want so long as it is shorter. That way you don't have to special order something from an RV store. To make it longer, put in bathtub with enough water to partially cover it and make sure it gets some sun 12 hours per day; in a few weeks it should begin growing (whether it grows foam or something else, I don't know). An electric knife cuts foam easily I am told, but I just use a sharp knife long enough to cut all the way through.

We had to trim several inches along the entire length of Lucy's memory foam mattress toppers. We also had to cut a curve to follow the form of Lucy's corner. We were able to make these cuts with an old electric carving knife. This method cut the foam beautifully. It was easy to cut along both straight and curved lines. Lucy's toppers are the two sided type with a blue gel liner on one side, so they don't have any cover to deal with.

Well, we just had new Lucy on the road for 16 days, and she was towed a little over 1,000 miles up into Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
We had a couple of 97 degree days, and her ducted air conditioner did very. All other systems performed well. We have noticed that unless you lock her awning support bar with two clicks on the door end, the door hits the awning material slightly.
We did find that if the air is running and you are using the microwave and coffee maker, it is best to use the LP gas water heater. We blew the campground circuit breaker a couple of times. It wasn't a big deal, but if you have to get dressed to go outside, it is kind of a pain.
We are now at 103 nights spent in New Lucy, and she is meeting all of our expectations.

25' FC 2015 ducted air. I notice more air coming out of the bedroom, back, ducts than the front. I read somewhere there are directional vents for the ducts. Where can they be purchased? Thanks

We got Lucy's at Jackson Center, but you should be able to get them from any Airstream Dealer.

Longest Trip To Date
We had a wonderful 2400 mile trip in our 25 FC FB.
Traveled from Florida to PA,VA and TN. Met with old friends(My 50th Class reunion) LOL and stayed at some fine locations. Before we purchased our Airstream I had a dream to camp at a very special area that I had fly fished numerous time That dream came True! Amazing.

You might look into the Truma AquaGo comfort instant on water heater. It only uses 12Vdc for the control circuit and runs on propane. Takes 50 pounds of stored hot water weight from the trailer and the second person still gets hot water.

Brian- I also heard if you run the washer/dryer along with the vacuum while your "air, coffee, microwave and massage chair" are running, same thing happens! LoL! Tried to get a deal on new 2015 25' FC F Twin with the Gourmet Lounge kitchen upgrade from AS Adventures yesterday.... they wanted $13K for the upgrade alone and not much discount on the unit, even though the 16's are arriving...guess we will keep ours thru the summer at least...we leave for MT Tuesday...hope the traffic is not too bad. Happy trails....

The standard 6 gallons of hot water is more than enough for two people to shower, based on hundreds of showers we have taken in our Airstream. Powered with 120 vac electric or propane or both, also gives an extra 6 gallons of water storage for boon docking.

Stumbled across this thread again and what a dynamic one it is! Does anyone know the amp draw of the factory installed (Dometic) hot water heater when it's on electric mode? I've blown the breaker twice now but I was always using something else too.

New Lucy's Atwood gas/electric water heater has 12 amp draw while running on electric. Old Lucy had a gas only water. Never had any breakers trip.

I meant to put a question mark after (Dometic). Atwood is more like it! If just 12 amp, something else must have been on too. How about microwave and AC draw? It has been raining like mad here too (hope this Airstream floats!) so maybe there is something else afoot.

A Dometic 15,000 btu a/c unit draws 13 amps. The microwave varies.

2015 FC Twin. Any suggestions on how to keep from sliding off the synthetic leather cushions. Maybe should have gotten the cloth material??
Thanks

New Lucy has the Black Ultra-leather upholstery. We have not found sliding off of the seats to be a problem.
Old Lucy (2005 Safari 25FB) had the cloth upholstery. We found that it was difficult to get out of the dinette seats as our jeans wanted to stick to the seat. We recovered her seat cushions with black naugahyde (no Naugas were harmed in this transformation). This worked well for us for a number of years.
