I've put foam pipe insulation on the hoses where they contact something. I did it at the same time I did other things so I don't know how it helped. But it couldn't hurt.

Go to your local hardware store and buy a 20" faucet hose it will have 2 female ends ,install it between the pump and pex tubing. This will allow for rapid expansion of the water when pump is turned on

I'm going to have to try that trick.

The door under the wardrobe can be difficult to open though I've never tried Brian's screwdriver trick. I'd be afraid of damaging the Formica glued to the door. I pull on the bottom of the door with as many finger tips as I can and it eventually opens. There's a heat vent in the door and that assembly makes it hard to open the door all that far, but there's enough room for access to the pump. You can install a small tank in the plumbing line to reduce noise, but the idea of a longer flexible pipe probably does the same thing.
Not all Airstreams have the pump in this location, but a lot do. Ours was installed backwards so the filter was at the back and inaccessible, but they turned it around at the Airstream service center at no charge. I installed a kit in the line to more easily pump antifreeze into the system when winterizing.

I have always opened this compartment with a screw driver or pocket knife blade. If you open the wardrobe door and pry the lower compartment door from the top right corner, it opens without any damage to the door. I have considered putting a knob on this access door on Old Lucy, but never got around to it.

Mine opens quite easily by grabbing it at the bottom.

I put pipe insulation around some of my plumbing around the water pump. Several pipes were in contact with each other and with drain pipes which vibrated against. It seemed to knock down some of the vibration noise.

Hi Doug,
The water pump in my Sig is usually whisper quiet. However, the one in my Safari caused the pipes to rattle somewhere and I could not fix it so I minimized the length of time it made a racket by installing a 1 gal residential accumulator tank from Home Depot. I stuffed it up under the sink and it really resolved the stress from the noise since the pump ran so infrequently. Never at night but occasionally during the day. 1 gallon is a fair bit of water in an Airstream. I suppose it ran when I was in the shower but with all the banging around I couldn't hear it. By the way, I just went through your neck of the woods but stayed at the Walmart in North Battleford which was a days drive for me from Winnipeg. Jim

Brian, I never thought of opening the wardrobe door. I'll probably forget next time I look in there.
I didn't put a knob on it because I was afraid of hitting my ankle on it. That would wake up half a campground.

Thanks for this Jim - I will check my local Walmart and see if they have such an animal.
Are you located in Winnipeg? i'm actually in Yorkton. So if you were in N. Battleford, you would have went right by us. Next time stop in we always have lots of room for company
Cheers
Doug

Hi Doug,
Although I now live and work in Burlington, I was born and raised in Winnipeg and still keep the family residence there so visit at every opportunity. You will understand that is most desirable to not shake off the prairie dust. I will stop by in the future since wondering around the west is a joie de vivre for my wife and I. On a selfish note, I could certainly benefit from a little camera instruction. Jim

As I mentioned Jim - your more than welcome anytime. We have lots of room for parking (10-ac yard) and even might have the ability to rustle up a few services for you to plug into.
On the camera front, i'm always willing to help out if I can
Cheers
Doug

12 days till our build date for our FC25 FB Twins!
Would someone please give me a measurement on a twin mattress? Length, width and thickness? I understand they are longer than a standard twin? Twin XL seems hard to find in the Vancouver area. I'm wondering whether standard twin sheets will do which they might if the mattress is not too thick? Anyone have a reasonably priced online source?
Thanks all.

The mattresses are X long, and you will need to order accordingly. The Airstream Store (in their bedding area), has PDF's which spell out the dimensions.
Here is another source:

Good luck!

If you plan on using a foam topper on your mattress, make sure to tell AB Lifestyles how thick it is. Then for $10 extra they'll make a set fit with the topper.

New Lucy's twin beds are long but a bit narrower than a standard twin. They measure 78" by 34". Lucy has 2" memory foam toppers on her mattresses. We use standard twin fitted sheets, and they work fine. SuEllyn uses a queen flat sheet and I use a twin. She likes more coverage.
