Brian, Just read your post. I replied before I saw this most recent note. You are quite a detective. Where did you find out they are different?

I use the Colonial Airstream Website to check things like this. They usually have at least one of each model Airstream in stock with lots of pictures. I just look for the model that I want to check out and look at the pictures. That is how I determined that a 2015 FC 25 rear bedroom has the upper access to the refrigerator.

Colonial's Website is a much better reference than the Airstream Company Website.

Hello I am new to this forum, and no I do not own airstream. I been thinking about trading in our 2014 Minnie winne but the DW does not agree. However my question is how do you guys that own the 25FB like it?

This is our third Airstream and our second 25FB. We have spent almost 1,400 nights in our 25FB's. It's a great floor plan that is very livable. We traded our original 25FB for a 23FB. After 10 months, we traded again to go back to a new 25FB.

Hello Deerhunter1; welcome! we have owned 3 25' AS's. First was an 06' Safari which had great L shaped couch, separate "booth style" dinette, but the bed was only 48" wide and wife didn't like the bathroom configuration. We then owned a 08', which had twin beds, however, it was converted to twins, and they were only 30" wide, uncomfortable, and we wanted newer LED lighting....so we now have owned a 2014 25' FC, Front Bed Twin for 6 months and love it! Twins offer 34" sleeping area each, and plenty room to dress comfortably between them. For us, this works great! The new rear bed model has a microwave above the fridge and that is a nice feature; we elected to just go with the gas oven vs the convection/microwave option. I do miss the microwave a "little" and like the rear bed model for that reason. They did a nice job including the microwave above the fridge plus you have a window in the bathroom, and a little more counter space in bathroom. Reason we did not get the rear bed model is a lot of camp sites we use have "back in" type requirements and the view is out the back. Now that we have our FB, we notice the front bed is not such a big deal, so get the one you like best! We were lucky; when we went to Bay Area Airstream Adventures, they had EVERY model in stock, so we spent hours looking at all sizes, models, and configurations.... As others have stated, the 25' is nice, easy to tow, and you can get in most everywhere. We have considered the 27' and 28' also...the 27' has more storage than 25, and 28' has "everything" I "think" we want for full timing! But then the 30' starts looking nice and then there was the 33' Pan American with garage! For now, I think were ok...

One last comment; AS vs other RV solutions....we have owned 4 trailers and a Class A motor home....nice thing about the AS trailer, you don't have to bring a tow vehicle, and you can hook/unhook pretty quickly and if you have something go wrong with a system (rare) you still have the ability to "live" in it rest of your trip (most likely) without sending the RV to the shop and renting a hotel...like we had to do with our motorhome couple times.
One last thought...if you can get to an AS dealer with great selection, like Colonial in NJ, I would make the trip an "adventure", and go spend time in all of the models! ....we never get tired of exploring the new AS's!

That is sage advice. We have owned two 25FB's, a 2005 and a 2015. In between, we owned a 2012 23FB. We thought that we would like the downsize, but decided to go back to the 25FB.

We have now slept three nights in New Lucy. We have noticed that both of the twin beds give a slight feeling of leaning toward the center aisle. I put a level on the bed foundation board this morning and found the both beds are about a quarter bubble off level side to side leaning toward the center. At first I thought that it was my imagination, but then SuEllyn commented that she also experienced this feeling. That's when I decided to put a level on the board.

Has anyone else experienced this, and how have you corrected it?

Brian,

I was doing a large solar installation on a '14 25 with twins and saw a second, thicker plywood deck over the original. There were varying thickness ply strips about 2" wide between the two layers with the thickest on the inside isle to none at the skin.

Wondered what this was for but the client didn't offer do I didn't ask. Might have been their resolution to the same condition you just described ???

I only took apart the curb side so I never saw if it was repeated on the street side.

You'd think that since all of these have their furnishings and what-not pre-made to the same supposed standards that they would ALL have the same problem. That's probably not the case, so it might be a problem with your particular trailer's construction. Or, they are ALL like that and most purchasers simply don't care if their bed is level or not...but rolling out of bed is not fun at all. Hope you get this and your busted ducted problems taken care of.

Thanks for that info Lew. That makes me feel better that ours was not the only one like that. I was going to look at removing the bed board and shoring it up from the bottom.

"AS vs other RV solutions....we have owned 4 trailers and a Class A motor home....nice thing about the AS trailer, you don't have to bring a tow vehicle," What I meant to say was, with an AS (or any travel trailer) you do not have to tow an extra vehicle (as you might do with a motorhome)when you want to go to town or exploring; after your set up at your site...your tow vehicle works and hook up and set up is fast and pretty easy with AS.

The twins in Pete, our 2014 27FB are the exact same way, sloped to the inside about a 1/4 of a bubble. Weird, especially since the left-right board on both sides of the nightstand is level. Our bed boards that extend rearward from the "nightstand board" are the ones not level, both sloping towards the center.

I know after about 70 nights aboard I've grown accustomed to it, but it still makes me wonder..........? If you're gonna roll, why not roll to the wall and not the floor?

I like the solution Lewster mentioned he saw, and thought like you about "shoring up" the low/center edges......... Spacers under the screws perhaps?

By the way, congratulations on super new Lucy! I have certainly learned a lot from you and many others on this forum. I'm so glad to be a part of this community. Staying tuned.

If you roll toward the wall, it can be pretty cold or hot depending on outside temps. A tilt toward the passageway makes it easier to bounce out of bed in the morning. If the roof leaks, water can flow off the bed onto the floor. It keeps you and your young wife closer.

Some ideas, some of them stupid (everyone has different opinions of what is stupid):

1. Duct tape.

2. A foam topper on the mattress—they tend to get an outline of your body and hold you in place.

3. Shims under the board, glued or screwed or both.

4. Slice a piece off the mattress.

5. Ropes and chains to hold you in place—they can serve several bedroom functions.

6. Hide all your money under the lower side of the mattress.

7. Don't wash the sheets—they will get sticky and hold you in place.

Thanks Gene...we noticed our 14' twin also seems to lean to middle...tried the duct tape with help of my wife....took me 2 days to get free! Think the topper is best idea...that's what we use.

Another idea—let them slide onto the floor, then you have twice as much mattress, can sleep in a cozy way on the floor, won't fall off and the former bed frame can be used for more storage. You save on sheets as you only need one set at a time. During hot temps, it is cooler on the floor. If it is too cold, you have twice the blankets. If you have too much to drink, you may end up on the floor anyway and it is just a short crawl to bed. Another innovation from Airstream.

I'm glad I checked in here again, I never thought about replacing the fridge fan with something quieter. It is LOUD and runs all the time! Amazon, here I come. I think I have enough points left to get a quieter fan.

All the cushions in mine (2014 rear twin) are anchored by a snap or Velcro. Except, that is, for the small one against the wall under the television. It always falls when we travel. Did they forget the Velcro on mine or is it the same for everybody?
