Furnace Screen
Brian,
I have rec'd both the furnace and hot water screens from Camco. The Hot Water screen installed.
But I can not fiquire out how to installed the furnace screen. The outlet has a baffle installed on the outside of the door so as the directions indicate drop in. Not possible.
Hint?
Thanks,
Fred

Good Morning, Fred. The screen that I got for Lucy's furnace dropped right in without using any tools or clips.
I loosened the two screws and opened her furnace access door. It is hinged at the bottom. I then placed the Camco screen into Lucy's door, tucked it in and closed and reattached her door. The little dome on the screen clears the little baffle. On Lucy's furnace, this baffle is attached to the furnace, and not the door.
Below is a photo of Lucy's furnace access door with the Camco screen installed. If you need it, I will go out and take another picture with the door open.

I agree with Brian. Keeping your trailer on your own place is the best option. We use them all the time, whether or not we're on the road.

Doubl', I don't understand the exact problem with your driveway except that you drag the back of the trailer when you go into the driveway—I think that is what you said. There are wide ramps you can put on the curb. They go over the gutter and extend to the roadway, thus creating a bridge over the gutter and making it possible to lessen the problem of dragging the back of a long vehicle. You could simply buy a steel plate or buy something made for this purpose. You'd have to check with the local municipality to see what is ok with them, but that would only be necessary for a permanent installation.
Maybe the grade is too much and/or can't be changed easily. I agree with Brian it certainly is an advantage to be able to park your trailer at home and it is much cheaper too.

Lucy's digs in the alley behind our house are not quite as opulent as Jay's girls have, but she really likes being close and ready to roll.

Hi Fred. Here are some better pictures of Lucy's furnace access door both opened and closed.

Gene,
The advantages are unlimited. However, the dip is pretty deep. If I'd have to guess, the driveway is 5-7 degrees and the street is a good 4 degrees plus the gutter effect. I'll have to work on with the help of my engineer neighbor. Honestly it's very complicated.
Ramps probably need to be 8 feet long..........
I never stored the 5er at home for long either, but it was not ART!

Good morning Fred. I can't imagine what kind of furnace that your Airstream has. I thought that all the 25FB's had the Atwood 25,000 btu gas furnace. Even Old Lucy (our 2005 Safari 25FB) had the same Atwood furnace.
I'm sorry that my pictures didn't come through. I will post them again below.

This will hit several topics.
That cover for the furnace, etc looks like a great idea to try.
On the fitting of 6v batteries front, our dealer has apparently now found out how to make the 6v batteries fit in the deeper 2016 battery box without making any modifications. Yay.
Our RV parking area at the new house is taking shape. See attached pic (I hope it attaches) of work in progress. Will have power and water and a locking steel gate with steel posts. Was a pretty sloping site that has been built up using some pretty large rock.

Fred,
I don't believe that I have ever seen one like that before. I thought that they were all the same. I would think that the screen for the water heater night just cover that whole vent area and do the trick.
I tried to look that Atwood model up on line and I can not find it.
