This work is done by:

Airstream Customization

It will not be done at the Airstream factory.

that is a very beautiful change to the interior. i can also see deleting that wrap around seating area and having 2 recliners added along with the cool fold up table i have seen in a few ASs. next time i am in Covington, i will ask about this custom job.

Moosetags, thank you again for doing all of the homework for us on the adjustable vents. I talked with my dealer and they have been keeping a supply of them in stock. They are $35. I plan to have them install the new vents for me.

I have seen some of those custom designs at Bay Area Airsteam Adventures. They are remarkable. The kitchen mod involves losing the sofa/bed and it feels like the space is confining with the high counter on the curb side next to the fridge. But that is only one person's opinion.

Other mods include a wine tasting room that was used after the earthquake in napa at one of the wineries.

Hi Brian...were you able to get your leaks fixed? If so, where did they originate? Any problems with the front hump sealant?

Thanks!

They did find New Lucy's leaks. They were originating from a loose seal on her rear Fantastic Fan. After dealing it up, they ran a water and seems to have done the trick . We'll see.

Thanks for the input. I hope to see one in person. From pictures, I like the extra drawer storage and counter space. We don't have a use for all that extra lounge area with just us 2. also like the flexibility it appears you have with 2 adjustable tables for eating, gaming, lounging in the booth area while watching tv....those are the attraction from the pictures. We loved our first 25' Safari with separate L-couch and booth dinette area, like they offer in the current 28' models....however we hated the small double bed in rear and bathroom.

Ordering stuff—go to the Airstream website and you'll see there is a store where you can order things. Not everything, but some things, so you don't always have to go to a dealer.

The lounge has wifi and free coffee, tea and hot chocolate. You can take the factory tour or walk into town—Jackson Center is not very big. Or drive somewhere. There's an aircraft museum in Dayton I hear is very good, though we haven't been there. There's also a Trader Joe's where we stocked up on stuff. In the lounge, you'll meet others waiting and make new friends and you can check out what's happening in the shop. As long as you don't get in the way, they let you see what they are doing. It was a very well run shop when we were last there about 5 years ago. Clean and orderly. One time we were there for 3 days and I read everything I could on my computer, took the tour, drove around and met people including some of the execs at Airstream. I'd rather have been on the road and it got hard waiting, but the work can take time and you want it done right.

The mechanic who was working on ours was fired in midstream (even though he was a distant cousin of an Airstream executive) and they assigned another guy, but everything got done well. They were generous with their time and even fixed a few things at no charge. They were far superior to the dealer where we bought the trailer. It is unfortunate we had to drive 1,400 miles to get things done right, but they have stayed right ever since. A trip worth it and we integrated it into a longer trip, so the wait was ok.

They start work early and you have to go to the administration building as some obscene hour to make sure you are first in line. Others will do so too. Have your hoses and electric disconnected, all the stuff in the trailer stowed and the tractor will come and tow it to the shop. If they have to take apart something important, they try to replace it so you can use the trailer overnight. Make sure they know to leave the fridge on or make plans to empty it if they have to work on it. There is also wifi at the Terraport.

The work done at the shop is far superior to the work done at the factory, or was 7 years ago. The factory could learn a lot from the mechanics in the shop. I was told they have meetings to discuss problems the shop discovers, but back then, at least, the meetings didn't help much.

Everything you say is correct, Gene. Our current trip to the Service Center is our fourth time there with two different 25FB's. Our distance from JC is less than yours, but is still about 850 miles. We have had a good experience there on each occasion.

We will always go there for work if at all possible. It has been my experience that about half of the Airstream dealers that I have been to are, at best, semi-competent.
