Hi Joe,

We didn't have any tire issues with New Lucy. When she was brand new, we replaced the OEM Marathons with Michelin 16" LT's.

When we had Old Lucy (the 2005 Safari) she gave us fits with her Marathons. We ultimately got her s set of 16" Michelins. After that, we towed her another 60,000 miles without a single tire issue. When we got New Lucy, she immediately got a set of Michelin LT's.

Brian, I've been giving that some thought after the many threads I read about the marathon malfunctions. What are the particulars of your Michelins, size load etc. also what did you do with the 15" rims & tires, especially the rims.
Thanks,

Hi Joe,

Most recently on New Lucy, I purchased five 16" Michelin LT's, premounted on 16" rims which we put on Lucy ourselves. See photos below.

We had only put about 500 miles on New Lucy's OEM Marathons. We sold them to another Forums member for $600. This meant that New Lucy's tire upgrade cost us right at $1,000.

The Michelin LT's that we got are the Michelin LTX M/S2 LT225/75R16E. Max load is 2680# at 80 psi. I run mine at 72 psi.

The wheels we got are the Sendel T03's with zero offset.

We also used a set of Centramatic Balancers as we had used on Old Lucy.

As you can see from the photos, SuEllyn mounted the tires and wheels while I provided moral support and took pictures.

Brian

Brian your one lucky guy to have such a good looking tire technician! I have never been that lucky.
We upgraded our 28' to the 16" Michelin LT's as well. I had about 2,000KM on the original tires and my tire dealer still took them in on trade. If I remembered right I think he allowed me 700 against the 1600.00 for the new tires and wheels.

Cheers
Doug

Hi Doug,

We were in the same ballpark on our tire upgrade deal. We added new Centramatics as we had had such good luck on Old Lucy's 16" Michelins. When we traded her in, those tires had 60,000 miles on them and show no appreciable tread wear.

As a point of interest, we had installed the Michelin LTX (P) 235/75R15 XL tires on the factory wheels on our 2013 25FB International Serenity early on from reading the forum. After we traded it in, the dealer in Mesa, Arizona replaced the Michelins with the stock GYM ST225/75R15D tires saying they could not sell it with non-trailer rated tires.

If I was a betting man, those Michelin tires were put on someone else's trailer on their lot....

Thanks for the update. Our 2015 30' has performed well, EXCEPT for the gas furnace. Her cycle is start, blow out the chamber (normal) fire the burner and then burner goes off. This cycles 5-7 times. Everything has been replaced except the furnace gas valve and the sail switch. Even the bottle regulator was switched.

Postponing our trip south for several reasons including this furnace, going in Monday the 4th for a quick furnace valve replacement and sail switch. Fortunately, the service guys at our dealer do this under warranty without much testing on their part, just take my word for what is happening.

Yesterday I even checked every gas fitting just to make sure we were not sucking in air, everything was tight. I also always light the three burner stove prior to firing up the furnace. I let it run for a minute, turn the burners off and fire the furnace.

Other than the furnace we are pleased and think she's a keeper.

Happy New Year

Bud

Because they mount on the tire rim, why not?

Not sure if their site has an answer, but the videos are interesting, with the top right one being short and to the point:

Tire Balancers, Tire Balancing, Wheel Balancer and Wheel Balancing from Centramatic

I really don't know the answer to your specific question, but I am also running Centramatics on my 2011 Silverado and it has four wheel disc brakes.

I just put 1200 miles on our new Michelins and feel very secure with them. One note... At the end of each day I put the torque wrench to the lugs and always found a couple out of spec. However, with the stock lug nuts replaced with the stainless solid ones, the job is a lot easier.

We're back in AZ for the winter.

I installed the 16" Centramatics after converting the Classic to Kodiak disc brakes along with the 16" Michelin tires and SenDel wheels.

Here's an alternative idea. Michelin LTX M/S Defender 235/75R15. They have a load range 109T thats 2250 LBS per tire, more than ample for a 25ft AS, with 50LBS psi max. I'm aware that a load rang of D is better than C but the capability to carry 9000 lbs is there.

I understand that Can AM is using 15in Michelins as a replacement tire.

They should be great tires but I don't think they will be available in that size until March. If they are please let me know because I want them. Thanks.

The ones that we got for New Lucy are the 200-221 Airstream Special. We bought them directly from Centramatic in Alvarado, Texas.

You're correct on that avionstream, late March. We're doing a cross country trip starting late May so if that holds true I'll have them before the trip. I've chatted with a few either on here or Airstream Addicts on Facebook that have their predecessor and are very satisfied.
