Brian- Woa there boys and girls...where are those white boxes from?? I never been there, but thought this was AS only?? curious about your experience and any information on the ducting issues...we are really thinking hard about selling the 14 for a 15 or 16...thoughts are appreciated if you learn any differences...and also, while there; ask about the new "kitchen/lounge modification" we see at Airstream Adventures Custom....is AS factory thinking about that as an option?? would make a whole lot of sense to get it done right first time as an option and be cheaper than paying $7200 upgrade to destroy factory set up in 25/27' models who want the usability this add on option offers...let me know if you hear.
Thanks,

Thanks,
The white boxes you see in the Terraport photos are an old Argosy and an Airstream fifth wheel.

I'll see if I can dig up any info the kitchen/lounge modification.

When having mods done at JC, do you stay in the trailer on premises at night, and they work on the trailer during the day?

The answers to your questions are yes and yes. You spend the night in your Airstream at one of the full hook-up sites in the Terraport. The Service Center comes with a tractor and picks up your Airstream at 7 AM and takes over to a service bay in the factory about 100 yards away from the Terraport. Your Airstream is worked on during the day. They bring it back to your campsite in the late afternoon.

Brian... thanks for the info. Is there a customer lounge area where customers hang out while their rigs are being worked on?

Yes, a very nice one with couches and overstuffed chairs.

Lucy got her new air conditioning vent today. They are very nicely made. Here are a few pictures.

Did they take care of the air flow problem?

Great. I saw a picture of what I thought was a vent and it was quite bulky/thick. That looks pretty flat! Now I can order some for our 27fb. I am thinking that I'll get only 6 for the rear/dining kitchen area since the front is already "throttled". Then perhaps at night I can close some on the rear and push most air to the front.

Brian, have you been able to test them out? Are they the answers to our prayers?

Can you confirm the part #?

Jeffrey

The vent covers have not done anything for Lucy's air flow problem. There is still no air flow to the forward street side vents. The vents are clear. The technicians here at the Factory have not yet been able to figure out what the problem is. They are taking Lucy back into the Service Center tomorrow morning. They plan to remove Lucy's air conditioning unit from the roof to see if they can figure it out.

I will report the results.

Brian

I have tried out the new vents with the heat pump. The ones that work in Lucy, work and look great. Lucy still has no air flow to the forward street side vents.

I do think that these will be the answer. I will get the Part number from the Service Center in the morning.

One additional note, Lucy's service technician said the the OEM screen vents were extremely difficult to remove. He said that it took two technicians both pulling on them to get them off.

Lucy also got her new back window awning today. We custom ordered the fabric, and we really like it.

First, nice to see the reflective tape on the bumper....I do this as well. Now, about removing the OEM screen vents.... Screw driver, tape covered to avoid scratches, gentle inserted under the edge at the point one of the holding tabs is located, then tapped gently with a hammer, and the edge of the vent comes down. Repeat on next tab at ninety degrees, the screen comes out a bit more. Once removed I bent the tabs in slightly, put a very small bit of grease on them and now they can be removed much easier. Be very careful not to scratch the inner skin!

I will post an image possibly of my solution to the draft on the bed occupants, but essentially I placed some baffles behind the screen to deflect air to one side.

And, my 30RB also has a lot more air to the bedroom than going forward to the living area...must be a basic design flaw....naw, couldn't be...LOL

Thanks for that information. I think that a lot of folks will be doing this upgrade.

All of Lucy's ducts are now operational.

This morning they removed the air conditioning unit from Lucy's roof and found that a piece of insulation had fallen into the duct that feeds air to the forward street side ducts.

We hope to finish up here today.

Glad they got it fixed. Judging from the number of people who have this problem they must have a lot of falling insulation.

The Airstream part number for the directional air conditioning vents is 382276-01.
