We towed Lucy over to Jacksonville (320 miles) on Thursday. Her new LED light strip held well on the trip. The leading edge of the light strip peeled up about an inch. I reattached it with some new two sided tape, and it seems to have stayed put.

When we made camp in Jacksonville, we put Lucy's awning out. we tried the light strip with the awning deployed and found that it did not have any great lighting effect unless you are under the awning. This is both good and bad. The LED light show will not disturb neighbors at a campground, but he lighting does not provide the light show that we were anticipating. The best light show is with the awning rolled up.

I was thinking I might try them as ground effects along the lower sides.

I was wondering is it best practice to keep your AS plugged in with some climate control on when parked at home?

Is there a best time to come to St. Josephs peninsula park?
Thanks,

We also thought about doing some of these lights as ground effects. There are some obstacles, mainly the wheel wells. If you try this and have some success, please share it with us.

I'm thinking about trying another string of these lights right below Lucy's middle belt line molding from the leading edge of the door to the front of the trailer.

I can't really say what the best practice is. I can only share what our practice has been over the years. When New Lucy and her predecessors have been at home, we leave her plugged into our 30 amp outlet at the house. We maintain minimal climate control and we leave the refrigerator on. We only turn it off when we defrost it three or four times a year.

The very best time for the Panhandle beaches is October. The air temperatures have cooled off a bit, but the water temperature is still pretty warm.

As you travel in that part of the Panhandle, keep in mind that Port St. Joe, and the Park are in Eastern Time. If you go over to nearby Mexico Beach, you will cross into Central time. Gulf County, Florida is the only county east of the Mississippi that is in two different time zones.

Brian,
Thanks for the information on Lucy plugged in. We have been doing same since we brought her home. Does new Lucy have the clarion radio? That's the radio in Silent Feather and I can't seem to get Sirius XM connected, maybe came without XM tuner plug. I'll remove today for look see.

Good morning, Fred. Yes, New Lucy does have the Clarion M502 radio unit. We have only used this unit to stream music from my cell phone via Bluetooth. I did note on Page 9 in the printed manual there are complete instructions for setting up "SeriusXM Satellite Radio operations". Being that these instructions are in the manual, I'm guessing that the unit is XM capable.

Let us know how it works out. I have found that this Clarion unit is not super user friendly.

The operator's manual for the ISS is less complicated than the ones for these radios!

Clarion M502 in 2015 models

Having ordered one of the first 2015's, I wanted Sirius/XM, and had the antenna installed by the factory before delivery. They installed a marine XM antenna which works well. (SHAKESPEARE Galaxy SRA-40 Low Profile SiriusXM Satellite Radio Antenna). I do not know if this is an option or not at present. I also believe the Sirius/XM receiver must be added as well, but cannot be certain. If one tries to find the Sirius/XM using instructions in the manual, it is not accessible on a unit without the Sirius/XM receiver installed as there is no ESN to find. If an ESN can be identified I think this means the only thing required is the antenna.

In a previous 2009 27 FB Int, I used a Sirius/XM antenna mounted in the skylight and this worked but the wires were a bit unsightly.

One note, my antenna is mounted as the first object on the roof, so I installed a Lexan deflector in front of this so as to prevent tree branches or other things from catching the antenna and removing it forcibly from the roof.

As to the "user friendly" aspect of the Clarion....I have vowed to create a user manual which is actually usable, but cannot figure out what does what...after 8 months of ownership....

Also, the sound quality can be markedly improved, see the following:

Talk about a users manual, how about the type size.
I saved it as a pdf then enlarged on my laptop, finally seeing made it somewhat clearer no pun intended.
I don't think the radio has the antenna because it doesn't appear on the menu as an available channel.
May just use it with my phone.
Thanks for all the suggestions, this thread is a dream come true!

Clarion M502 in 2015 models

Yes, I also used the online version, enlarged, printed, and....

I strongly suspect i will at some point change out this unit for a Clarion FX503 Digital media receiver. This will require a bit of cutting, but I am certain there is adequate room.

The big problem for the current Clarion, in addition to the controls, is that one cannot access hard wired USB iPod menus. Only a guess as to what one is able to access. The screen of the FX503 should solve this.

What I would like is some type of portable tuner/receiver with a screen to access all the info, and which could be moved to the bedroom so I can have control from my bed....one which I can understand the instructions....LOL

Incidentally, I think the Clarion M502 is now discontinued by Clarion and replaced apparently by M303 which has usable controls...

We did the same thing with the Clarion Manual. We found it on-line and downloaded it to the laptop. We have started doing this with all kinds of manuals. I have the owners manual for our 2011 Silverado on the computer for easy access.

I have noticed that certain products are no longer coming with a printed manual. We just purchased a new printer for Lucy. It is an HP 5530. It did not come with a printed manual. A flyer packed with the printer tell where to go
on-line and download the complete manual.

Brian

So now one has to buy a printer to download and print the manual for said printer. Of course that also entails buying a computer to drive said printer, and downloading the manual for said computer. And all of those cables will need something to keep them organized.... oh wait, I see what you just did there.....

It's a massive conspiracy to sell Microsoft or Apple operating systems I suspect.

Rich, making a good living off the conspiracy for years.

Microsoft and Apple control us and our wallets much the way that Ma Bell did during the bulk of the 20th Century. If we want the convenience of the technology, we have to pay the price. I, for one, love today's technology and am willing to pay the price. I do look for bargains, though, where I can find them.

And, yes, we always need more wires to organize and identify.

Actually, it's about saving costs (printing, paper, labor, etc...). Positive- (could be a positive) all the manuals are on line now and you don't need to look around the house and remember where you put it....you load up the page you want and print if needed. For me, that is good, as I can not remember where I put anything these days!

I'm getting to the point that I really hate technology and I have another 18 years to work!! It seems like it takes so much effort to keep up with just the basic stuff, then something doesn't work right. A printer that worked fine today won't tomorrow because of an outdated driver, etc........ Internet speeds where we live are dial-up speeds at best....
At home i even changed my operating system from Microsoft to Apple because people told "Apple just works" - well the jury is still out on this. I tried Windows 8 operating system and hated it - another reason I changed.
Sorry to get your thread off topic, just ranting a bit.

I would like to purchase a back up camera for Silent Feather. Has any one had experience with the voyager setup using the apple iOS devices to monitor wireless. We have 25 FC FB twin and TV GMC 2500hd seems like it may to long of distance for wireless transmission?
