Lucy's Samsung television in the bedroom has a manual switch in the lower right hand corner on the back of the television. You push the button, and a small pop-up menu appears on the screen. You pull the button down to the 'off' icon and push the button again. The large Samsung television in Lucy's living room has the very same manual controls. On both televisions, you simply push this button to manually turn the television on.

Thank you Brian and Doug. Maybe I should consider reading the manual. But the forum interaction is so much more interesting. By the way, little Reagan, our Schnauzer is still at the hospital but responding well to insulin. Was diagnosed with Type one Juvenile Diabetes with complications-very rare for his age. Almost lost him but should be home next week with lifetime insulin care to follow. A challenge but worth it.

Sorry to hear that about your little guy, but it sounds like you have the situation under control.

New Lucy is out on her first real camp out. The ten nights that we have spent in her so far have all been in SuEllyn's Dad's yard in Jacksonville. We have brought Lucy up to Hardeeville, South Carolina to visit friends. Last night was her first night amongst other RVs at a real campground. Most of the other RVs here are big Class As. Lucy looks like a silver painted Casita next to these big guys.

And you broke out the QSteer! I changed my rear diff fluid on mine. Very easy to do. The cleanup of the tools was worse than the actual procedure. You do need a pump to pump the fluid into the diff.

Unhappy Propane furnace

I would love advice about our propane furnace. Brian maybe you can weigh in on this. We have noticed on our most recent trip to Mariposa(near Yosemite) that when we ran the propane heater for the first 2 times that warmed well but we smell a slight exhaust smell. None of the alarms go off. This was with the windows closed. I really couldn't tolerate it. We thought maybe something needed to burn off so we ran the furnace with the windows open and us not in it for about an hour. We then turned it on again closed up and still detected the smell, any thoughts?

When we first fired up New Lucy's furnace, we not only had the smell that you are talking about, our smoke alarm went off. We were at home when this happened, so we ran the furnace for a while, and the smell became less noticeable, but still there. The next day I started the furnace again, and it did the same thing. I let it run most of that day and the smell became almost gone.

On this trip, we used the furnace several times and the smell is now gone. We remember that on Old Lucy, the furnace would smell when it was first used in the season.

Brian,

Just got to see those blue lights in the windows. Are you sure you haven't been to Colorado to try out our newly available somewhat legal products? That and those lights would go really well.

There are thick mats that Barb has found to dry out dishes on a countertop. When the dishwasher doesn't dry them all the way or we have a bunch of things that aren't dishwasher safe, she sometimes uses them. With the double sink, we generally use one to wash and the other has a dish drying rack inside. A small apartment sized dish rack fits right in the sink. When dry camping, a small rectangular dish tub fits in the other sink to save space in the grey tank (we drain dishwater into the toilet tank). If we need extra counter space, a cover over the left sink helps. Airstream should upgrade to two sinks.

I'ver seen gas fireplaces in some MH's and 5th wheels. They go well with the 4 or 5 TV's, including one stored inside next to the gas grill. They pop out when you are outside and push a button. Can't be without a large screen TV and a gas grill for real rustic camping! Then you go inside and sit around the fireplace. One combination RV with toy hauler even had a TV in the back room to entertain the ATV's, snow mobiles and boats.

Things that heat can collect dust during the warm season and I think that odor is dust burning. New stuff may have more dust or other things burning off. When ours was new there were other odors—glues, formaldehyde, other chemicals. It was pretty bad and lasted for quite a while. Keep ventilating. We picked up ours at the end of October, so the next spring there were still some odors.

A dishwasher and washer/dryer would be nice, but we'd end up with a heavier and even more expensive trailer. Some CG's have rather limited clothes washing services and that's when fantasies of a washer/dryer are born.

Just installed and activated Dish Pay As You Go satellite Tv with a Winegard Pathfinder X1 system. The dish plugged right into
the outside cable inlet. The receiver plugged right into the SAT-in inlet under the dinette table. I was able to place the receiver out of the way on the floor under the drawer just to the left of the door. Then I ran an HTMI cable all the way around the aft and port side walls and up to the TV. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with two different Dish people, did what they said and IT WORKS. I get all the Denver channels in addition to a bunch of cable channels. No matter where I travel I'll still get the Denver Channels. When I want local channels from some other city I'm near Dish will make the change with a phone call. I never wanted Satellite service before, watching all the grief fellow RVers went through setting it up. But this new system is super simple.

We took Lucy from South Carolina down to Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, Florida. We got her a really nice campsite and took a few pictures. A full hook-up campsite in the woods for $12, what a deal!
