My 66 and my 86 have double sinks. The 66 has sink covers for additional counter space. I figure double sinks are handy when moosetags is doing dishes. One for wash, one for rinse. Newer homes are going with a single sink, but they have dishwashers and garbage disposals. Moosetags doesn't need a double sink when the dishwasher does the work. Ya suppose Airstreams will ever have a dishwasher? I rather hope not.

We do have a dishwasher at home but use it only rarely. We also have a double bowl sink at home.

I also hope that Airstreams never have dishwashers, fireplaces, or washers and dryers.

GVWR on my 35' is 9k. But has a Splendide washer/dryer and I plan to add a dishwasher. I agree in part with the sentiment expressed, but it is the weight of other than appliances that I think is at the heart of it. A modern floor and aluminum cabinetry would truly serve in this.

90-gals of fresh water makes it easy enough to supply these and with a beefed electrical storage capacity to operate them. After all what good is a generator (and here is the point) if it can't extend the independence of the owner in these logical additions? Contributor Skatiero makes the case for the dw with their large family in a large TT and I see the c/w/d as much the same.

Once one gets to the largest TTs it is likely a 1T truck or van is being used. Even with four adults there is no real restriction on storage. Weight becomes the problem and that is to the cabinetry. Too much of a penalty there.

A fireplace is pretty funny I'll grant. Might be different if it were really functional in the way a woodstove heater could be.

But nothing trumps whining over how loud is the inverter when operating the electric reclining chairs.

We recently looked at a three axle 5th wheel that did have an operational gas fireplace.

It was quite nice, but not our style.

They're not really functional though. Whereas catalytic heaters -- again, in the larger trailers -- can be placed all over: lounge, bath and bedroom. A gas fireplace is just silly.

What is certain in the many pics in this thread is the beauty of the current models. I like mine for fit finish and design, but Im a bit in awe at what is shown with these new A/S.

Bon voyage

Airstream has always been very good at efficient, small space living. I tell my friends an Airstream is like camping in a business jet fuselage. Amenities have sure changed over the years. I remember our 57 Shasta had a hand water pump. My 66 Trade Wind has an AC, wow! And our 86 has a blender, knife sharpener built right into the counter. Amazing! So camper designers always try for the marketing edge luxury feature, like quiet ducted AC.

I'm with moosetags, I like the simplicity of Airstreams. I hope they stay on a path of design for longevity, ruggedness, lightweight, efficient and comfortable. There is a lifetime warranty in my 66 owners manual. Now that would be a design goal for new trailers and a real selling point.

Like "camping in a business jet", a very good analogy. If you don't mind, I will use this one in the future.

In case you were ever wondering, a complete set of five Airstream tires and wheels fits nicely into a Suburban. Actually, two sets would easily fit with the back seat up. With the second seat down, three sets are doable.

We have loaded up Lucy's OEM tires and wheels to go to their new owner in South Carolina. After Thanksgiving in Jacksonville, we will head up to Hardeeville, South Carolina to visit friends. While we are there, we will head up to meet the new owner. We sold New Lucy's tires and wheels in two days on the Forums Classifieds.

Camping in a business jet fuselage is kinda a dumb analogy. Of course you are welcome to use it. I usually follow on with a description of tight quarters, head bonks on overhead lockers and comfortable as long as you're seated. Airstreams are different, and they attract a different kind of traveler.

Are you going to be a moosewheels too?

We have now been camped in New Lucy in Jacksonville for four nights. The temperatures have been dipping down into the 30's at night. The heat pump has had a really good run. It is quiet and efficient. We can hear the television when it is running. We have also tried out the gas furnace. It also works great and keeps Lucy nice and toasty.

One thing we have noticed is that sometimes when we turn the living room television on, it also turns on the bedroom television. The televisions are both Samsungs with the same type of remote controls.

Brian, most of us have both tv's come on if your "aim" is off a bit and the remote signal is reflected by the bedroom wall to it's tv. You can use either controller for either tv.

Easy solution, aim better.

We'll work on that. This is the first time that we have had more than one television in our Airstream.

Brian:
We noticed that this week as well. Doug is right-it's all in the wrist. Funny thing-I take the remote to the bedroom to shut it off-have not been able to find any buttons on that TV. Have to work through trying to figure out how to get the Tailgater working. Can't get a signal to the receiver using the outside satellite connection. But that has to wait- We are now at NC State Vet School with our 5 month Mini Schnauzer. Had to cut our trip short and come home. Looks like Diabetes-very rare for this age. Will know after more tests and stabilization. Long night ahead.
