How did you like Wekiwa? We're going there for the first time next year. Any area (sites) to avoid?

We tried to get into Wekiwa Springs on a long weekend 6 weeks or so ago. No way after a Thursday night........ Kelly Park on the East end of Wekiwa Run/Creek/Springs? is an Orange County Park that Wekiwa sent us to when they were full. We stayed there 3 nights and were very pleased. Very nice facility and 25 site campground. A lot like Wekiwa, and another option for folks.........
I also wanted to report that I borrowed Moosetags' Twin Bed fix from within this thread. Remember page 10, how the Front Twins all lean into the aisle? Moosetags fixed it with rubber interlocking flooring sections under the offending bed board, and I just completed it today in preparation for a trip starting tomorrow. Awesome!
We all learn so much from this Forum don't we? What a great community!

We have camped at Wekiwa Springs twice. Last May and now. This is one of the nice State Park campgrounds, and we have been to a lot of Florida State Parks.
At Wekiwa Springs the are two camping loops. One is all full hook-ups. The other is mostly water/electric only, with about five full hook-up sites. All the sites on both loops are quite private and of ample size. We were on Site 22 last night. The sites that we jotted down for future reference were 5, 7, 9, 11, 22, and 25.

I wonder if one of those dish soap dispensing brushes would allow wash and rinse in one step making a single sink more plausible. We do that quite a bit while traveling in our 86. What works even better is having the beagle lick the dishes clean!
As you put nights in Lucy's log book, let us know how the new 2015 trailers are performing in the real world.

I do know how cold it gets up in Minnesota. For three years (1972-1975) I lived in Hallock, Minnesota, which is way up on the Canadian Border and the North Dakota State Line. Fortunately, I was a young man at the time and could handle such things. When I arrived there in September of 1972, I had never seen snow in my life.
I really appreciate being able to Airstream year round. I have no idea how to winterize an Airstream.
We are using one of those dish cleaning sponges with the liquid soap in the handle. Thus far, I have been laying the clean dishes on a towel to drain. I was just trying to come up with a system without having a double sink.
I do plan to report regularly on New Lucy's performance as we camp our way through the USA.

Lucy has now made it to Fort Wilderness. We checked in right at Noon, and got a really nice site in the 1200 Loop. As darkness fell, we realized that we were across from a camper that has really outdone himself with Christmas decorations. We have never seen anything this extensive at a campground before. We have been amazed at the number of RVs decorated for Christmas. It's a really neat time to be here.
We are going to be here for three nights checking it out for future trips with grandchildren.

Good grief-that camper decorates more than some houses in my neighborhood.
Do keep us posted on your DisneyWorld stay. I'm planning one with our AS there someday. How do they handle dogs in that park?

Well moosetags, I'm glad you had three years in the deep freeze. It adds to life expectancy just like keeping hamburger in the freezer. Maybe you saw some moose roaming about with tags on their antlers and got the idea for your business?
Keep us posted as you test out new Lucy.

Are you going to be a moosewheels too?

I think its a great analogy, plenty of room in the Gulfstream and in the Airstream. Although the Gulfstream has 2 vacuum toilets which I prefer

It is a beautiful morning at Fort Wilderness. It is currently 66°, and it is forecast to top out at 78° this afternoon. There is not a cloud in the sky.

AntiquePedlar don't get totally hooked on the Denver Local stations. Dish does 'zone' broadcasting of local stations. Think of it as shining a sharp beamed flashlight on a globe. If you are in the beam you have light if not then it is dark. Same analogy for the way they handle local stations. When you change location you give them a call and give them the local address and zip where you are located. They will make the change at their end and you will get the beam from the local stations for that area.
I too thought, what the heck I should still get the Denver stations over in Kansas City. No go. Makes no sense but that's what happens. Also it may take a couple of calls to get local to work. One thing is that you should have the system setup and running in your new location before calling them for the local switch. I tried calling before I arrived several times and it just doesn't work. Need to be on the system, sats running on the Dish part of the channels and then call with the local location.

Fort wilderness Camping
For Moosetags,
looks like a great site at Fort Wilderness. Is that your favorite? Are others similar?
Thanks,
Rick

All the Fort Wilderness sites look pretty much like ours. There are 20 Loops of campsites. All are full hook-up except 1500 which is water/electric. About half the loops are pet friendly.
