Well I just learned something. I didn't realize the filter belonged under the sink. I wasted $20 bucks to put it inline with my hose. l wondered why it didn't come with fittings. Why didn't they tell me that during the walk thru? I'm sure there are more surprises ahead.

One might plan to replace that filter annually when putting one back in line under the sink. The filters are not a "forever" item.

Many use both filters. The inline hose filter helps protect your lines and freshwater tank. You haven't wasted 20 dollars.

My filter came with the fittings,but they were in a separate little plastic gag in the big cardboard box of stuff that came with the new trailer.

In my experience, the person that gives the walk-through is not really very knowledgeable.

We have always used both an inside and an outside filter on all the Lucys. Keep in mind that the under-sink filter is for the kitchen sink only.

I may have mis-understood DCopps post. I don't see how you could modify the Moen under-sink filter to make it an inline white hose filter, like the blue Camco one. Completely different designs.

My filter and fittings were in a plastic bag behind the under sink plumbing. I found them by accident.
Because I had traded an AS in, the salesperson said I knew everything about them and did not need a walk thru. We than did a side to side transfer.

In another instance of Airstream going backwards, the water filter on our 2005 Safari was in the Moen kitchen faucet. It was very convenient to use and replace. It even had an LED warning light to let you know when the filter was nearing the end of its effective life.

The new interior water filter is has non of the above features. You almost have to be a contortionist to install the new filter.

Thanks for the detail. You always do good work and I try to pay attention to everything in your posts/photos. I notice how you have the coffee maker secured for travel and the hanging bag for some sort of storage(trash bags, maybe?). One question on the low-installed microwave. We have that in our 28ft FC. Our previous 25 ft was higher up and readable at eye level. Have you figured out a way to read the digital screen without getting down on the floor?

Hi Tom, thank you for the kind comments. You are correct, the coffee maker is secured for travel. This is the system that we used in old Lucy which worked for eight years. You are also correct about the 'bag bag' which holds the grocery bags that we recycle as trash bags and laundry bags.

The micro/convection oven is hard to read when standing. If you are sitting on the couch, you can read it fine. You can also read it if you crouch down, which I need to do as a form of exercise.

Did you get yours new or used? I am undecided about what to do. Am thinking that a 3-4 year old trade in would be a better financial option from a dealer, but the new ones are pretty sweet. Thanks for your input

I planned on buying a used model but found they are not easy to find, they sell very quickly and I wouldn't have saved enough to justify missing out on the newer improvements and the two year warranty. YMMV.

I went new for the same reasons, impossible to get a used Airstream without knowing if you are buying a time bomb, and the warranty, which I used immediately my first week out. As I have been traveling this year the one issue that has infuriated me is that some of the so-called dealerships are very poor at customer service.

In my opinion Thor should be sampling their dealerships for service, because ultimately those are the market makers. Some of them need to be representing Thor.

We have done both. We bought our 2005 Safari 25FB (Old Lucy) new. We bought our 2012 Flying Cloud 23FB (Little Lucy) used in 2013. We bought our 2015 Flying Cloud 25FB (New Lucy) new last month.

That being said, if you can find what you want used in good condition at a decent price, go for it. The only problem is finding and waiting for right Airstream. We got very lucky when we were looking to downsize to the 23FB. We walked into the Airstream dealer in Gulfport, Mississippi, and there was Little Lucy waiting for us. We cut a decent deal and traded Old Lucy away. We used Little Lucy for a year and spent 148 nights in her. During our big
camp-out on the west coast, we decided that we wanted to go back to a 25FB. We looked at a 2015 25FB at the Airstream dealer in Eugene, Oregon. Even though that one was not exactly what we wanted, we decided that we definitely wanted a 2015 to get the ducted air conditioning.

We shopped on-line on the way back east, and found New Lucy at the new Airstream dealer in Defuniak Springs, Florida, which is about 30 miles from Santa Rosa Beach. We took delivery of New Lucy on October 2nd, and traded Little Lucy.

We didn't even look at new 2014's as we really wanted the new ducted air conditioning. We could have gotten a much better deal on a 2014, but it wasn't what we wanted.

Having bought Aistreams both new and used, I would highly recommend both ways. If you find the right used Airstream, you're there. The main thing is to get out on the road and enjoy Airstreaming.

A warranty is only good as the chap doing the "repairs" and their Airstream service experience. Unfortunately, not every dealer has a factory trained tech in staff.

Some dealers have instant memory loss after the paperwork is signed and treat the customer as a problem to be ignored, sort of what did you buy from us today mentality.

Still awaiting the stove lid hinge ordered over two months ago from the selling dealer. I jury rigged a replacement with a stainless steel screw and nut. Similar speed exhibited on prior warranty repair parts.

I had a long list of initial issues repaired on my dime (inflation - up from a nickel) by a truly qualified third party that was nearly 1,000 miles away, but the work was done properly the first time along with the extensive modifications. Some design issues were repaired as well.

As I have said on other posts, we bought our 2012 25FB very lightly used and we are convinced it was absolutely the right thing to do. It made a lot more economic sense than new, we had a year of warranty remaining(unneeded), and the trailer had more factory options than we would have bought new.

on our 3rd 25', this time new 2014....Ducted air came out few weeks later in 15 models...wish I had known it was coming before purchasing the 14 model, but other than that, we are pretty happy....after 6500 miles this summer, only issue we had was due to bad batteries...we are happy so far.

Following this thread the main plus appears to be the ducted AC on the '15 model. I also note the minuses, though small, compared to my '10 model. These include a less powerfull TV antenna, no 12 volt sockets, no medicine cabinet lid hold-back, and a hard to reach galley water filter. I'm sure if I had a '15 without owning the '10 I'd not know the difference. But I sure use the additional items in our '10 every day.
