Does anyone know how to remove the chrome plastic trim rings around the tail lights? I tried prying a bit, but was afraid of damaging the ring or the bezel.

Old Lucy had screws around the trim rings.

Hi there,
We had to replace LED bulb on out tail lights last year for state inspection and mechanic at Colonial Airstream recommended buying Harbor Freight "plastic panel pry tools" ....we successfully pried off the trim piece and replaced the bulb. We were both afraid we would break the trim piece but the HF tool worked perfectly!

Brian that vertical framing member under the rivets to the left of the light trim ring should be a good place to rest the tool (or on a block of wood resting on the frame), if I am picturing it correctly as a small pry bar, to get things started. Once you get one edge freed up a bit, the rest should be fairly easy.

http://www.harborfreight.com/5-piece...set-67021.html

I had to buy a set like this for the interior headliner etc. of my van.

Good luck,

Peter

rings

The rings have 4 fingers on them 2 top, 2 on bottom. Kinda like the vents should have had! They fit tight. They pry off. I marked mine a little trying to remove to fix light. The replacement rings are cheap though. One of the vendors had them for $3 a piece if I remenber right.

Thanks for the tips. I have ordered a set of the plastic pry tool. Should be her on Monday.

Does anyone know what vendor has the plastic chrome trim rings?

I replaced the rings last year and like people here have mentioned, the rings have two tabs on top and two on bottom. I used an old credit card and slipped it in the middle then to the sides to pinch the tabs one at a time. AS replaced mine under warranty and requested shipment to the house. The parts guy at my selling dealer was great however he is no longer there.

My vent register problem seems different than Brians'. I have the 2015 25'FB and my vent hole had a tab that prevented the register from seating properly. Could this be Airstreams solution to Brian's inquiry? Anyway, I had to modify all my registers to get them to snap in place. Made some measurements and took some pics.
Hole diameter 5.00"
Hole diameter including tab 4.84"
Register plastic ring diameter 4.91".

Haven't had a problem with falling vents before the fix today - haven't used it since I bought it last year. Still outfitting the camper.Click image for larger version

There was always a large gap on one side of the register and now is more flush with the ceiling.

Thanks for that info, Joel. Your 25FB may be newer than mine. New Lucy's VIN ends 531020. None of New Lucy's vent holes had this tab in them.

They possibly decided to leave that little tab in the vent hole a little later on in the production of the new ducted air. I would have thought that Customer Service at Jackson Center could have told me that they had changed the design to better hold the new ducts in the ceiling.

Funny you should ask. We are winding down from a major renovation at our beach side rental house. We have been at it pretty much full time since January. We are hoping to wind this thing up this week.

Lucy is getting very antsy to get on the road. We think that we will first head over to the Forgotten Coast for a week or two and do some exploring there.

We may come home to resupply and head out to Maine with a stop at Jackson Center as New Lucy will be coming up on two years old. There are a few minor items that we will have addressed while she is still under warranty. We are also considering adding a street side awning. On the way back south we plan to make make a stop at Fort Eustis, Virginia to visit with the third son and his family.

We need to be back in Jacksonville for a niece's wedding in late August. We will then make a quick stop in Santa Rosa Beach before heading out west and wander around out there until October or November.

We plan to do one of our trip threads for each of these jaunts.

Brian

Seems like we may be going east when you are going west. Maybe our paths will cross somewhere.
