Earl I don't think the cords being supplied have changed in years. Furrion cords and connectors on the side of the trailers. Those of us who live in colder climates just deal with it. And looking at list prices there looks to be about a $100 delta between the Furrion and Marinco. But adding it as the standard would further increase the base prices and I can hear those howls even thinking about it

This may be of some help with the 50 amp cord.....when I'm struggling to wind it into a coil small enough to get into the storage bin, I try to do it on top of a camp table in the sight I'm in, and then tie it with three ball bungies.

Still not what I'd call easy, but not having to actually hold it while I coil it helps.

I bought the trailer for year round use. Denver to warmer climates in the winter. It also gets pretty cold at night/early AM in the spring and fall in the high country. I only want to carry one cord (30' 50A) with a couple of adapters for emergency options. I used both AC units in Heat Pump mode to keep the trailer warm in the "winter" like conditions last week in Mesa, AZ. Yes it is a complaint but one that is real when trying to use the cord in cold weather and using the cord in cold weather is standard use for me. For those that only use their trailer in the heat of summer or willing and have the room to keep it in the warm TV that is great. Why pick on us that simply point out an issue that might help others with potential frustrations.

Interesting! My '10 FC came with a soft always pliable yellow 30 amp power cord.

Probably was a replacement by a previous owner?

We had a 30 amp trailer before we had the 50 amp trailer. Yes, the thinner long black snake was a little less unruly and stiff.

Marinco used to be standard

The Marinco inlet and cord used to be standard, don't know exact year models. As I recall, the outside inlet was the molded plastic version and the Classics had the stainless inlet. Both came with the flexible Marinco cord. Both Marinco cord and inlet was standard equipment on my Bambi. Can't remember what year they went to Furrion but it hasn't been that long ago.

I changed out the inlet to the stainless version at least 5 years ago and still use the original cord. In great shape, stays plugged in all the time. Never had to worry about being able to roll it up. It got down to 8 degrees at my place Wednesday morning and that cord stayed flexible.
Use what suits ya but it works very well for me....

Interesting because we've owned an '01, and '04, a '10, and now an '08, all Classics, and they all had the stiff black cord. I assume they were all original, and I know our '08 cord is original.

I actually found a place that sells raw Marinco cabling. Thought I could make up a cable especially for an extension. That idea quickly died. 4 conductor was just shy of $20 per foot. Makes their pre-made cables seem inexpensive.

I have never seen a yellow 30 amp power cord on a new airstream ,the dealer must of lost the original furrion grey power cable and replaced it with the yellow one you have .maybe I'm wrong others will correct me if I'm wrong .

Not meant to pick on anyone, just mentioning that sometimes one must face reality, that is that rving in cold weather is a chore, just as rving in hundred degree temps is. If you had a truck you could coil it up with four foot loops in the bed, jist saying there are alternatives. Peace, jim

The 125 volt rating is simply the rating of the insulation used to make up the cord. In other words it is not rated for anything higher than 125 volt service.
The wire size is what determines the load carrying (amp) capacity of the cord.

Jim, You miss the point. It does not have to be a "chore" with a higher quality cable than comes standard on the trailer. That was my opening point. I for one do not want to stand in the cold, need to holler for my son to come help manhandle a frozen "cheap plastic" power cord into a small enough coil to fit back into the small rear compartment of the trailer. So as I have with other "inferior" aspects of the Airstream product I choose to upgrade. This is by personal choice and for those that can live with it or work around it or feel that the Airstream product is adequate as delivered my hat is sincerely off to you. This is just information for those that do not want to deal with it and/or see an opportunity for improvement "less of a chore as you put it".
