2014 25FB FC Pioneer radio power off?

I am a brand new owner, 1 night only. Everything has gone pretty well, with a lot of learning curves. There is a pioneer radio which is located in the upper left just inside the door. It is functioning fine, but I cannot figure out how to turn it off. It changes colors and flashes. The only thing I figured out was to push a black button on the lower right of the unit, which actually pops the whole radio out, but turns it off! Am I missing something? Thank you.

Push the button that says "source" for a couple of seconds.

Psychedelic Night Light

At first I thought it might be a night light until my wife got up on our first night beating on the thing (found the black button to pop it out) so we could sleep......

That is funny. We had our 15 year old who thought it was "rad" or some such word, but my wife and I didn't think so at 1 in the morning.

I'm curious...is Airstream installing Pioneer media players now instead of the Sony? I thought Sony was the standard.

Can anybody share the model number of the new Pioneer? I actually like the Sony media player, now that I have it all figured out. But I'm curious how it compares to the Pioneer.

Thanks.

In my experience in general Sony is a step above Pioneer, Kenwood, Panasonic, and JVC in quality and reliability.
Alpine is a step above Sony in quality and being more user friendly.
I have had all and prefer Alpine, but I am perfectly happy with my Sony. Yes it is second best to Alpine, but only by a slim margin. I absolutely love the flawless blue-tooth music and phone capability.

As far as the model number- next time you go to Walmart or Best Buy look at the Pioneer media players in the $100-$130 range- That will be what is in the new trailers. On these aftermarket stereos a little bit of money goes a long way- for instance a $100 aftermarket stereo will be satellite ready, MP3, bluetooth, USB, and auxiliary input and have a cleaner amplifier compared to a factory AM/FM only that costs $400-

The source button turns the power off to the audio, but the psychedelic light show goes on. Turns out the unit was still in "demo" mode from the factory. You can also turn off the illumination functions and the mixing effects using the settings. thx.

The demo mode on my Sony goes off by holding source for 2 more seconds after the power is off.

CD Receivers | Pioneer Electronics USA
Don't know but I will say that I prefer the Pioneer units and it was the highest rated brand in a showdown for feature and performance in consumer electronics in the mid and upper model range. That said, regardless of brand, it needs to work for you- the controls, etc. The WORST radio I ever had was in a Mercedes. Small toggles and buttons everywhere took forever to punch in a station that was not programmed. I am sure some of you know the radio I share about- made in Mexico for MB in their 80's models, Becker, see below:

Best Car Stereos | Top Head Units 2014 | CarAudioNow | CarAudioNow

Mine does not go blank on the screen when it is off. The off button is on the top left and says "SRC on/off". When you turn it on it goes straight to a function on the screen. When it is off it says Pioneer with graphics, etc.

Our 2014 FC 25 still has the Sony. The other night I turned it off and left the bright blue light on when we went to bed. I woke up later and noticed the power converter fan was running continuously...when I got up and held the power button on the radio to really shut it off the power converter fan shut off not long after. So the "demo mode" was pulling enough amps on top of the idle draw of the other appliances to keep the converter warmed up. Wonder how many watts the radio draws in that mode?

Hmm. not good on the power usage. Standby mode will use a little but hopefully you were in demo mode. Now I have to check mine out the next time I am over at the garage.

Pioneer radio reception

I have a new 30ft Flying Cloud with the Pioneer radio. I have zero am reception and very little fm reception. I've made certain the local/distance switch is in the off position and also pulled the radio to check the connections but still have no reception. Is anyone having the same problem with the Pioneer unit? Any thoughts for a fix before I return to the dealer for warranty repair?

It sounds like a problem with the antenna connection. if you have access to a portable fm radio antenna try it. If it works then you know something is loose somewhere, perhaps at the antenna end?

There is a way to turn off the display on the Pioneer. You will have to carefully read the owner's manual that is in your bag that came with the trailer. The first new Airstream that came in with the Pioneer was placed in the showroom, and it only took 45 minutes to figure out how to turn the demo display off. And I work on these trailers daily.

Here are the directions from my 2014 Pioneer unit's manual on how to turn the display off. Good at least for models X7600-X9600

Turning the display on or off
Press and hold MIX/DISP OFF until the display turns on or off.

If an unwanted display appears
turn off the unwanted display using the procedures listed below.

1 Press M.C. to display the main menu
2 Turn M.C. to change the menu option and press to select SYSTEM
3 Turn M.C. to display DEMO OFF and press to select
4 Turn M.C. to switch to YES
5 Press M.C. to select.

While most Mercedes in the '70s and into the early '80s had a "Becker Mexico" AM-FM-cassette stereo, I'm pretty sure the "Mexico" model was made in Germany with the rest of Becker's product line, including the "Grand Prix" pictured.

Probably, I just remember when pulling the radio (it quit working) all those many years ago it had Mexico - 24 years ago, wow! I should have realized with the complicated controls (as with BMW radios as well) it was German! Loved the cars disliked the radios- very non-intuitive as to my point. So, wrong model pictured, country of origin corrected. Thanks. I remember someone once wrote a humorous story in an auto magazine about a bimmer radio-another push button ordeal.
