No problem that you posted about this Pharmgeek It was a suspected clog in the line. Yes keep a plunger with you at all times!! Plus gloves and bleach!! Good thing we were visiting family at the time and had access to one. The loaner was a regular household plunger. I guess you could saw the handle down if you want a smaller size. Definitely use lots of water while flushing.

If the macerator motor dies or freezes up, I guess you are really up *$&# creek!! This macerator toilet is probably the only thing I'm not crazy about on our FC.

I forgot one of the stated reasons...per user TavnAsh on the safari bunkhouse thread - I know IggyWalker and I were talking about why they went with it...im not sure if this is an official reason, but here is what was said:

"You have the concept, we currently run one in a boat the family owns. Basically the waste is sucked down a small hole in the head (toliet), goes through a grinding process, and is deposited to the holding tank via suction. Benefits are the waste takes less volume and gravity is no longer a requirement for transporting the waste. The first version of the Bunkhouse had an undesirable location for the blackwater tank which limited the size, and made unsightly and vunerable plumbing at the rear of the trailer. Your rig has the blackwater tank forward of the older bunkhouse.
"

I wonder what boat owners know about these things and their reliability. I have this pump thing for my dishwasher that takes discharge water and pumps it out to sewer (connection was too high for the washer alone) - and it also is a macertor type if needed I think (like some people could use if for a toilet or something?? - anyway, it has been running without a hiccup now for 7 years or so...hopefully the macerator toilet will prove reliable...I can handle the occassional plungering if needed...

Unrelated, but I am quite bummed...summer is nearing over...all my "1 week vacations" are used up and I will not take another until June 2015 (tybee island, river's end campground)....it cannot be healthy that I am already anticipating June 2015 when it is not even fall 2014 yet.

Who is the manufacturer of the macerator toilet used on the 2015 bunkhouse? As an example the LTV Unity uses the Thetford Tecma Silence Plus.

I'm in. Ordered the 2015 Bunkhouse on Monday and should have it in December. It's pretty funny to go back in this Thread and see my old posts asking questions like " The New Guy" then end up buying one of these things.

Question for owners: Have you ever come across a place you want to camp but the 30ft is too big?

Short answer for me is no

But I think there may have been once where a late reservation attempt meant I could not fit in the available slots

The six digit serial number is assigned to the dealer's build slot when he places an order. One can change "what" is built in that slot up to around 30 days before production. Once "what" is defined and set into concrete, the rest of the alphabet letters of the VIN are added in front of the serial number to define the trailer for licensing and local taxes purposes.

I have joined the club. The 2012FB is sold and I have a deposit down on a 2015 Bunk. We are very excited about it and can't wait to pick it up, hopefully late next week depending on the weather. Now I need to get the RV5000 on order and installed, new Michelins ordered and installed and we will be set for Meza, AZ over Christmas/New Years.

Are the brakes now disc? Forgot to ask.

After talking with Anderson I am going to try one of their new No-Sway No-Bounce WDH. Anyone running one on yours?

It did not look like it but anything else to consider and/or be prepared for other than the grind up toilet?

Are the tank monitors working well for you?

I truly hope this is substantially better than our last new 2012FB as it took 6 months to get all the factory problems and issues resolved.

Will post more when we get it.

I cannot answer your questions as I have a 2014 model....but congratulations!! And welcome to "the club" or "the club within the club"?

I thought as of 2015 the 16" Michelins were standard?

Good luck with the shakedown and keep us informed.

Just starting the process of evaluating our options when it comes to a trailer with a bunkhouse. Is it possible to order an AS with dual XL twins or fulls instead of a shortened queen in the front? I do not see a list of options on the web and if these are built to order, what are the options? Thanks!

It was not for me - but it would be great - although I vacillate about the question - I never pushed for it but officially definitely was not an option

A glimmer of hope that I did not need to spend the extra $700 but I was planning on it.

Just looked at the build sheet. Drum brakes and 15 inch tires. That bums me out a bit.

The 16" tires and wheels are standard, so far, on the 2015 31' Classic and a no penalty build option on the Eddie Bauer trim line. One can have the conversion done at the factory for all other models with 15" tires and wheels (SenDel does make a 14" bolt pattern wheel to upgrade the smaller trailers), but the trailer comes off the line on 15" tires and wheels and gets towed to the service center for the conversion. The take offs are then carried back to production, thus saving Airstream some costs and lining their pocket at full price for then 16" conversion.

I am so excited I can hardly stand it. After a long unsuccessful search for a gently used International Signature we ended up buying one of the few remaining new 2014 FC Bunkhouse 30'. It will be delivered next week. I will post pics. YAY!

AS newbie

Picked up our 2014 bunkhouse last Saturday. The whole family is ecstatic. I understand the lack of sleep thing.

We had a relatively nice box trailer first. It was a good thing to get all the kinks out the first year in a trailer one third the cost.

The one thing that's got me worried though is the level of problems listed here. Electrical issues, water leaks, tank gauge calibration, cabinet hinges that come apart, an awning hook that breaks regularly. I had issues with my first trailer but they were all cosmetic.

Are there AS owners out there who didn't have any issues? I need a little positive feedback.
