2012 25' FC FB Hot Water Problems

First of all, we're newbies on the road with our Airstream, three weeks into a 12-13 month USA road trip and currently at Yellowstone NP. We bought our FC used but in great condition…we thought. We've been having a problem with hot water. We also get hot water out of the cold side of our taps. Both of these happen when we're on the pump.
With city water we get hot water out of both sides for a minute or so, then cold, except for the toilet which stays hot water.
First of all, both the toilet and wand pump out hot water…really hot water, not something I would attribute to a warm city water supply hose.
Secondly, the propane hot water heater fires only for a short time…less than a minute in most cases…then shuts down. Oddly, though, right after we tow it seems to run for quite a long time.
I'm guessing that the culprit is the Atwood mixing valve…but maybe I missed opening (or closing) a valve somewhere.
If anyone can provide some clues we'd much appreciate it. Or if you know of a good RV repair place within 100 to 150 miles of Yellowstone please let us know.
Many thanks.

Most likely your bypass valve is open. As part of the dewinterizing program, make sure that both the hot and cold water lines to and out of your HW tank are open and that the bypass is closed.

Take a look at this thread. #3 post has a picture of the valves on the HW tank.
