2011 27' FC led lights

We recently bought a 27' FC. Most of the inside light fixtures have high intensity LED fixtures. After a couple evenings spent provisioning our new rig, my wife and I noticed that we were "seeing" yellow spots--more like large boltches--whenever we were inside the rig and for a while after we left it. Turns out that the LED fixtures are so intense, that even when we weren't looking directly at them, we still had imprints on our retinas that took some time to fade away. I ended up replacing all the LEDs with 20w halogens and everything's now fine.

Has anyone else had similar problems? If so, what have you done to alleviate the imprinting?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was actually thinking of installing those in mine as an upgrade. Maybe I will hold off.

I replaced all of the halogens with LED's about 6 months ago. No retina issues, but the trailer is much cooler in 70 degree weather and will be even better when it really gets warm outside.

"Have you seen a doctor?"
"No, just spots."

I'll pass this along to the people that need to know.

Personally, we found the halogen lights more harsh and harder to look at (and spot-seeing) than the LED replacements we made. (We used cool white LEDs rather than warm white, BTW.) LEDs put out a whole lot less heat and use dramatically less power when dry camping...so we're keeping them.

Paul,
We have been asked many times about a LED light that would fix this problem. D3528ww18 has a frosted lens and is around a 45% as bright and D5050ww9 is 90% as bright but is no where as intense.

The problem with Halogens is the heat and power consumption, as we all know. C9ww or C12ww may be what you might use if you have already changed your LED fixtures to the halogen fixtures.

We are thinking about swapping our our halogens for LEDs. We have read a few of the other threads and will keep our eye on this one also. This is the first time we have heard about retina "burn-in" and are interested in how to avoid this problem.

We love the LEDs and dimmers in our FC.
