OTOH, the Safari 22 would not seem to fit.

Anyone NOT have this issue with their frig door system?

Like DW wild child says ,our fridge trim pops off all the time .This trip out i'm going to try double sided tape (carpet tape) . fairly strong grip and not permanent . As for discussing other airstream models in this thread ,I started it to share what we are learning and enjoying about this size ,and style .Everybody is welcome ! as long as you stay on topic in general ,that's just polite in any forum . back to the fridge problem ,we should start talking specific models ,and see if there are other discussions on airforum pertaining to our shared problem

Hi. Darrell. Fridge door separation problem has not appeared yet for my generation Dometic. I generally engage the latch out of an abundance of caution. But the top trim strip did pop off once or twice.

For record keeping purposes ours is a 2015 Flying Cloud 20'. If I drive for more than 4 hours the top strip will ALWAYS be detached all the way across the top. I have to admit, I have never checked the other strips.

I have never had the slightest problem with the fridge door or panels on my 2014 FC 20. Two years and lots of miles, mostly on secondary NW roads.

I have been lurking here and enjoying the comments, as I am looking for a good used FC20 in the Northeast per this listing:

Flying Cloud 20 2012 or earlier

If you know of any units which might be coming up for sale, please ask the owner to contact me. I had a 25' AS rear corner bed Sovereign years ago, and want to downsize to the FC20.

Thanks

There is a 2008 listed in NY in the classified section of this site. Do an advanced search and look under the 13-21 feet.

Thanks Getaways, for the heads up. That unit I believe is a 20' Safari, which has the dinky little Hehr operable windows with a large fixed panel of glass above. Personally I find these windows inadequate for cross-ventilation when camping in the boonies. Maybe OK for some folks who use the A/C in campgrounds with electric available . . .

2008 Airstream Safari 20 - New York

I am looking for the full-height Airstream windows which are hinged on top and open up very high, creating a lot of free air flow. In the lowered position, these awning windows can also handle quite a bit of rain.

Thanks again for the heads up.

For a 2008, you'd want a Safari SE. In addition to the side windows that you're looking for, it would include panoramic front windows and aluminum interior skin.

Thanks teagues for making the distinction. I see that you have a Safari SE model. Curious to know if you use a weight distribution hitch and what your tow vehicle is. Thanks.

We have a 2013 Tundra Crewmax with the 5.7L V8, and are using a 6000# Equalizer WD hitch. We hardly know the trailer is back there most of the time.

Until two years ago, we towed with a 96 F-150 4.6L v8. That worked OK too, although it struggled in the mountains. I'd probably still be towing with the F-150 if the back seat were bigger. Upgrading to the larger cab was unavoidable.

By the way -- we upgraded to 16" wheels and Michelin tires last year. I highly recommend it.
