Wobbly Kitchen Table

I don't know how it got this way but our kitchen table is way too... "wobbly." If you lean on one side, the other goes up. I haven't pulled it apart but the design is a little on the hopeful side anyway. I'm assuming the L-Brackets are just bent out of shape and need to be re-bent.

Any insight or "don't do X" is appreciated!

Are all connections to the wall solid? Any screws loose on the arm underneath the table?

Some pics may help! Good luck!

Rubber gasket material and maybe a hinge.

The table in my trailer (2013 25FB Flying Cloud) was also wobbly. We were bothered by it but put up with it. Until the day we hit a BIG pothole on I-25. The table completely detached from the wall.

Our fix had two parts. First, I had a sheet of rubber material lying around the house from a prior project. This material is about 1/16 inch thick, and has a grippy surface. I think this is available in hardware stores as gasket material. I cut two sections the size of the tabs that go in the wall brackets. We put the rubber pieces behind the metal tabs and that made the table stable.

We also fastened the leg to the floor with a hinge. We normally keep the table up, but we wanted to preserve the ability to take it down when needed. So we replaced the hinge pin with a removable pin.

I am unsure if the tables are the same, but there is a thread about this in the Eddie Bauer Edition forum -

Try "forming" those L brackets to get rid of the wiggles.

If that cures it, you might consider travelling with the table in the lowered position to take the stress off of those brackets. As mentioned earlier, if potholes can jar the trailer enough to make the table fall, I can see it bending those brackets in the process.

Now this is sheer genius! I'm not so sure it's the cure for my issue but the removable (cotter?) pin is a fantastic idea. You should patent that.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I hadn't considered the source of the problem being the beating of it while going down the road. I think the wall hookup points are secure but I'm going to play with it tomorrow.

To whomever posted about the EB Legs: They are different but I really wish I had them!

I'm not a genius..... I learn from doing.
I find it very easy to bend those tabs when you are wanting to lower the table. If you're not careful when you are folding the support leg, you can possibly allow the front edge of the table to drop a bit, causing the tabs to flex in the wall brackets.

After you bend them once or twice, you pay attention better and can keep those tabs from bending.

Checked it out today and it seems that the left bracket was bent... I simply bent it back and the table is steady(ish) again. Not a great design!
