rear frame brackets??

I was noticing that the trailer frame near the rear bumper ( the only bumper, come to think of it) of our 2011 27 FB Int'l has two brackets extending downward toward the ground. They have 90 deg. flanges on the ends of them as though they were meant to hold something.

I haven't been able to determine the purpose of these brackets. A wheelie bar?

Sort of...

Those brackets are designed to scrape the ground when you pull through a dip in road, or driveway entrance, etc..

Better they should get scraped than the delicate underbelly or worse, the plumbing and other vitals... Similar to wheels or other devices attached to low point at rear of longer trailers or motorhomes... (Though for motorhome, caster wheels that lift driving wheels off ground can mean quick call to towing company...)
