Oyster ultra leather

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. We're hopefully 6 months away from buying our International Signature, and I'm wondering how the oyster color of the cushions holds up. Does it look dingy or stained over time?

Just introduced in 2015 so how can anyone give you an answer worth anything? Personally I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole but I have a tendency to get everything dirty.

My light cream colored 2014 ultra leather looks fine after two seasons and about 12,000 miles of use. I have not seen any posts here that indicate that the ultra leather is a problem.

I'm new to this forum. Our 2014 fb signature is our second airstream we have owned ! We traveled to the upper peninsula of Michigan this summer and were gone six weeks . I found our beige ultra leather cleaned up very well with only a damp paper towel .

A little harsh don't you think? He said he was new and it is likely he didn't look up when a style of ultraleather was introduced. I'm still looking and I've never even considered looking up what year a color scheme may have been introduced.

No worries! I welcomed all comments about light colored upholstery in general. It's not fun to change it, and that was the last decision point I had to make. And I'm a girl! <going to update profile>

I love the look, but I'm afraid it wouldn't work well for me. I'm afraid I would get grease from the ball on my jeans, (or someting like that) and it would go straight to the couch.

The ultra leather is good stuff. While my trailer had the taupe, it showed zero wear or stains from either the two humans or the two basset hounds. It has a nice feel to it and doesn't get slimy feeling. Wish the foam that was inside the ultra leather was of the same quality. If you sit on it long enough it compresses to the point where you can feel the sub structure. (I am well-within proper body fat range, BTW!)

Ultra Leather is the greatest. Have had ultra leather on our boat for 15 years, with 2 wet dogs (swimmers and we live & boat year round in the NW), 2 humans (not exactly Mr. and Mrs. Clean), and many boat mechanics spreading their tools on the cushions (lots of dirt, gease and oil). Cushions still look like new and all I have ever done is wipe with dish soap and a paper towel. Also we now have the AS with the light tan ultra leather. So far have had blue ball point pen ink, grease and very dirty paws to deal with on the cushions and all has come off with just dish soap and a paper towel. The cushions look like the day we picked "Silver Fern" up from the dealers - perfect. The color makes no difference as to how the fabric cleans. Get the color you want and enjoy - no worries. Cheers!

I have the oyster ultra leather and a dirty golden retriever and I love them both. Just came back from a 7000 mile trip. I used the leather wipes that you can buy in any car section to wipe the cushions off, worked fine except the wipes were old and dry. I had some Tumi leather cleaner that I use on my purses in the rig, tried that, just a little on the dry paper wipes, OMG, a miracle! They're just like new now.

We have Oyster Ultraleather on our 2012 Serenity 16.
I like the way it is holding up so well we used a different color of the same fabric on our boat this year when we reupholstered! I have even cleaned ball point pen up from a cushion once. No problem at all! I am sure you can damage it but it is not easy...We use our Bambi for 5 or 6 weeks every winter and for lots of spring and fall camping.
I have been impressed with Ultraleather.

I reupholstered the cushions in my 1964 Bambi II with ultraleather and LOVE the stuff. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter and not clammy. Low maintenance and looks and feels amazing. Highly recommended.

We are living in our Airstream at the moment. We have three dogs and it has been rainy, muddy, snowy and everything in between. The ultra leather wipes clean with a damp cloth. I love it.

My husband accidentally got some hitch grease on the sofa cushion and I was able to get it out very easily .....cloth covered cushions would have been more of a problem .

That's a great tip about the leather wipes. I feel more confident about picking a light color now. Thanks to all that took time to respond!!

Kelly,
Welcome to the board. This board is a great source of info and opinions. There are lots of very nice people willing to help you. As on most forums, unfortunately there is an occasional troll. Trick is to summarily dismiss and ignore them.

Keep asking and researching. All the best in your search and landing your Airstream.

Hi troie99

Thank you for your question re the oyster ultra leather. I ordered this on my 27AS. It will be delivered end of April and I have had those irritating second thoughts about the white interior. I love the look of it and decided to get what I really wanted vs what might be more practical. From the responses to your question, it sounds like everything will be fine. One less thing to worry about! Good luck with your purchase and hope to see you out there. Best regards,

Itldo

I second this! We hope to purchase a 2015 27 FB with the oyster ultra leather and have 3 kids. This is the exact thread I was hoping to find to ease my worries. Thank you for posting!

I want to see pictures of the decor when both of you take delivery! I'm looking forward to having lots of options with the light color, and it will always feel light and open inside.
