I second the nesting cookware, you can get it on line, go for the lined version, they are amazing and make clean up a breeze. All I can say is we've been at it 7 years now, over 350 nights and we're still re-arranging and re-organizing...all part of the fun! Enjoy the journey-

Hi, containers are great for under the bed and under the Gaucho and those came with our trailer. Other containers can take up too much room. [waste space] A lid rack was perfect for our plates, both Corelle and paper.

I've been looking at the nesting cookware but I'm hesitant to buy anything just yet. I tend to use my 11" electric skillet for just about everything, so I want to see how much I use it in the AS. Do you all think that would be a wise choice, or does that just end up taking up too much room?

The electric skillet is our favorite cooking tool. You can cook anything in it, and we do. So easy to take outside and cook on the picnic table.....quick cleanup....best tool in the box. Second favorite cooking tool is a Weber Smokey Joe, the little charcoal weber grill you can purchase at box stores for about $20. Cooks everything from burgers, steaks, chicken.....uses very little charcoal and tastes much better IMHO than gas. Nesting cookware is one of my wife's favorite items....and look at the collapsible kitchen items....they are really handy and available at Amazon or Camping World. Real space savers. Less is more!

Speaking of nesting cookware, here is what I decided to buy:

Amazon.com: MSR Flex 4 System Cookset: Sports & Outdoors

It is incredible how many components fit into the one pot. If you want to add their frying pan it will also nest into the 4-person system. A 2 and a 3-person system are also available if you don't need as many components.

This is great! I've seen these before and wondered how well they actually did. It seems a good idea but never know how well it will work out.

Hi, I like the idea of these nesting sets, but some of them that I have seen are too small; Maybe these were for back packers or something. Also do they come with instructions on how to put them all back together again.

I should also clarify a little bit...the man-child and I are quite used to packing light. As contractors we travel all the time and we fit our lives into our suitcases. What I am mainly interested in is how to get the most out of the space we now have in the AS. I've seen some great ideas on this thread and in other threads...The Container Store, Ikea and Amazon will probably be our best friends as we start to get a handle on the best way to organize and store our stuff but I don't want to go overboard buying things that I thing we HAVE TO HAVE only to find out we really didn't that twelve piece refrigerator organizer!

Radical idea. Take nothing except bathroom items. Camp near a walmart or camp store. Buy what you need as you need to use it. Could get messy but, it might work! Jim

Related to this same topic....is there a thread that outlines the internal/external sizes of the various storage areas in the common models? My wife and I are deciding on a model and we are trying to decide on what items can fit in what locations. Unfortunately, the exterior storage for things like camp chairs and portable BBQ's tend to be much smaller than "regular" trailers in similar sizes.

I use exterior storage only for setting up camp such as hoses, tool box, sewage attachments. My Cobb grill does fit into my external storage along with BBQ stuff. In short outdoor stuff goes into external storage. Not a lot of room to work with but more then enough room for the basics.

Inside nesting cook ware bought at West Marine works well. If you have a microwave get microwave friendly cookware. There are stores everywhere as the need arises get what you need.

^ Makes sense, but where do people store camp chairs? We are trying to avoid having clutter in the trailer but it seems we may have to compromise slightly while traveling and pull some stuff out after arrival.

We put the Zip Dee camp chairs in the truck bed, slip them into a big trash bag to protect from weather. Power cord, water hose, and Sewer Solution, as well as rv water softener go there and our two lightweight Rubbermaid (black with silver covers) storage bins.

It all comes out when setting up extended camp, but not overnight stops.

Hi, the bag chairs fit in my storage compartment and the fold flat chairs go in my Lincoln. By bag chairs, I mean the ones that fold up and fit in a long round bag.

A roof rack on the TV also works good for the larger lounge type chairs and I also throw the small charcoal grill up there and sometimes a little box of firewood.

We have a Thule roof box but when we are trailer camping the roof of the TV will most likely always have kayaks on it.

However, I had a good look at the front side outside storage area of the 27FB today and it's much larger than I thought it was....the camp chairs we use (Eureka curvy) shouldn't be a problem.

We have a 2002 Safari. We've never really gotten the space above the fridge organized. Ideas for how to manage that triangular space?
