Talking New Airstream Owner!

Hi Everyone!

My wife & I are now the proud owners of a new 2011 International 23FB! Last weekend we purchased this trailer from Safford RV in Fredericksburg, VA, and hope to pick it up in a couple weeks (they are installing a solar panel option).

Being new to trailer camping in general, airstream specifically, (as well as diesel trucks, etc.), I'm delighted to have found this great resource for information!

I will try to search and learn from other's past posts concerning hitch considerations, mechanical issues, etc., but being basically an impatient person, I'm sure I will ask a totally stupid question from time to time.

I'm excited and delighted to be entering this exciting new world of opportunities!

Chris

Congrats!

I'm sure you'll get all the help you need here, ask away. The only thing we ask in return is pictures when you get her home. Airstreamers love pictures of Airstreams. The dealer should go over everything with you when you take delivery also.

Happy travels!

Congrats from one 23 FB'r to another.

The missus and I have been traveling in ours for almost one year and about 15,000 miles. We've found the size to be just right for the two of us. AND, the length is even better when you happen upon one of those older state parks that were built for the lesser trailers of yesteryear.

Enjoy!

Way Cool!

Chris,

Welcome to the Airstream way-of-life. Your 23 sounds just about perfect for your needs. We hope to see you along the way.

Thanks All!

My wife Priscilla is still worrying that the trailer will be too small, but it just for the two of us, so I'm sure we'll be fine! Not sure how (or if) our two big dogs get to come along though.

We'll post some pics once we get her home!

First congratulation.
I bought same model in Serenity decor. We love it as compare to 20' Safari we trade-in. Make sure you check out every thing in details, we found quite a few issues mainly due to the unit was sitting on dealer lot for over 8 months with all the traffic. My dealer was only 5 miles away so it was not a big deal. Airstream has one of the best warranty and their dealer (majority of them) are extremely cooperative.
I got 50Watt solar panel installed on mine as well
Enjoy

Nellysford? Nellysford? Us, too! Welcome to the forum pages. Linda and I bought the Silver Otter about this time last year. We've pulled her to 29 states and 1 province since then. WOW, this is fun. Let's get together at the Backbone for a snack soon. We'd love to have a tour of your new rolling home, and offer one of ours in return.

Wow! What a cool coincidence! We'll definitely let you know when we get our new home! We live between Devil's Backbone & Wild Wolf Brewery.

I hope to get the financing on our tow vehicle tomorrow - I'll be less stressed once we are done with all the financial stuff and can actually get out and enjoy things!

We look forward to meeting you!

Have you all been to Trailer Buff? It's an airstream restoration shop. I've only stopped by and seen the outside (and the impressive collection behind the shop). They have tours on Fri. I'm over in Charlottesville, but love Nelson county and all the area around it!

We haven't been there yet (other than checking out the outside, as you have done), but we definitely plan to do so soon. From what I understand, the folks that run the place are terrific!

Congratulations!

I'm typing this from a little RV park in the California Gold country. Enjoying sitting in the back of my 27FB International with the TV volume turned down while the wife and dog sleep in the front.

We love our International, after kicking tires on various models the International interior kocked our socks off and for a couple of old retired folks we wanted the extra room in the 27'. Traded in a 19.5' van conversion so we're still luxuriating in the extra room and "real" shower and bathroom.

Happy travels :-)

Dogs and Airstreams

Congratulations Chris and Priscilla!
You'll really enjoy your new Airstream. We love the International interiors as well. We have a 23D. It's a different layout than yours, but we find it more than spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 dogs. Camping and dogs go together. When we start packing the trailer, they get so happy that we have to put them in the vehicle with the hatch open to watch. I don't know what goes through those little brains! As if we'd leave them home with a bowl full of kibble and puddle pads on the floor!

On one very miserable rainy day, we had 5 adults and 4 dogs (2 big, 2 little) in there for an afternoon of movies. It was very comfortable.

Here are pics of our two on the day we brought the Airstream home. They settled right in immediately!
