New 27FB Intl Serenity coming home this Sat.

We are looking forward to outfitting our new baby. One question that came up that someone maybe can answer. Do the sliding cabinet doors stay put during travel or are they prone to opening? Also any pictures of kitchen organizing would be great.

Thanks John & Lisa

Happy travels.

Thanks. I love the just5more minutes site. I have got some ideas there. Although the overheads look mostly staged for nice photos. Not necessarily the most practical use of space.

Our first trip when we opened the door the microwave was on the floor and there was a tear the flooring. It was repaired by our dealer. On another trip one of the cabinets came open and spaghetti sauce fell out and it was a mess. We are looking at a solution so this does not happen again.

The solution is o get plastic containers for all your shelves. Storing in the plastic containers prevents the ejections....

Yes, they are prone to opening. The answer is to buy some rubber stoppers the size of the grab holes at ACE hardware. Installed in the holes the plugs limit movement.

Sliding doors in the CD series

I had a 19' Christopher Team International Bambi (2005) with the sliding doors and yes, they had a habit of sliding open during travel. However, the cabinets had a deep base so items usually stayed put. However, it was annoying to always have to slide them close. I think the sliding doors are probably the biggest difference (to me) between the CDs and the Flying Cloud which I am purchasing next. I keep wondering if I will miss the "glow"of the lights behind the semi-opaque doors of the Christopher Deams, as opposed to the solid cabinet doors of a FC (where no lights shine). Sounds like you've got a lovely trailer coming your way, congrats!!

H2Coolerman, I have a 2017 28' Serenity International. On our first trip home which was mostly I-95, I-64 and I-264 we had zero movement - anywhere. The silly designer pillows didn't even move. Granted it was all interstate, however if you have driven I-95 and I-64 you know they are a little rough in some places. I hardly knew she was behind my F250 TV. We took her on her first camping trip to an Army Corp of Engineers Campground - North Bend Campground in Virginia. VA-58 all the way - some rough spots but not bad. My silly Garmin routed us to a gravel road (we didn't know any better) to enter the campground. We drove 4 miles down this wash boarded gravel road to a well paved campground entrance. We didn't know the right way in was not a gravel road. Anyway, because of some posts like firemed509's we were in for a mess when we opened the door - the only issue I had was one of the cabinet hinges on one of the bedroom lower cabinets popped lose. Needed a little adjustment which was easily done. My point is not all experiences are negative, and I feel for those, like firemed509 who had bad ones. I was fortunate that I had a great one. The only issue I had on my first trip was my TV popped a turbo intercooler hose lose - I found a Napa Auto Parts and bought a new clamp. If you pay attention to your AS and do preventive maintenance and pack properly, all will be well. In answer to your original post - my sliding cabinet doors only move when I move them.

Storage

We picked up our 27FB Intl Serenity over Labor Day and used it two weekends. In that time we found out that the magnetic spice holders on the vent hood work great! They do not fall off. Picked them up at Bed and Bath for $1.99 each plus a 20% off coupon. You will need 10 to fill the space. The sliding doors overhead do not open but things slide all over the place in there. We bought baskets for the overheads, and a plate holder that stands our melamine upright and saves room. TJ Maxx is a great source for racks and baskets. Silver stainless steel paper towel holder was $1.99.

We have a 23 ft CD and yes we have had problems with a lot of the doors, sliding and hinged opening on many occasions. We know have a home made "barricade kit" which we use every time we break camp. To cope with the sliding doors on the CD, I made some "stoppers" using a sock, knotting some coins in the bottom as a weight, then a cork, with a further knot. We line up the doors and thread the coins through and jam the 2 doors shut with a cork wrapped portion of the sock. Works great. The pull out draw under the seat by the door is used to store wine which is heavy, so we have a bungee cord we leave in place to hold the door firmly shut. We use small bungees on the twin doors under the sink and bathroom cabinet. The pull out shelf we barricade with a small stick, and we wedge the handle of a swiffer mop into the fridge door handle area to keep it shut - it did open once. We have hit many rough patches of secondary road, a long stretch heading to Kouchibougiac in New Brunswick, we often go to the more remote parks with predictably iffy roads. We have also had to screw in cabinet hinges that have got loose. Keeping a brillo pad to poke wire into the hole before replacing the screw works well. We have a system that works well now - but I wish all the cabinets came with marine latches - perhaps we will get some and install them.

I use a pinch style wooden clothes pin in the finger holes of the sliding doors and that keeps them from moving.

We have a 2013 30' International Signature. Before each departure we double check all sliding overhead doors to make sure they are in the locked position as well as all cabinet doors. We have been on some very rough roads but only thing ever to end up on the floor in those instances are the front lounge cushions. Never any open cabinets or doors.
On one such trip our shower door slid down on the hinge which was replaced under warranty. Since than we replaced the original GYM tires with Michelins and we dont even get the cushions on floor. The ride with these tires is 100% improved.

Good to hear about the Michelins. I know the GYM don't seem all that good.

To kick the sliding doors 1/4 inch dowel rods can be cut to length and dropped into the lower inside and outer tracks of the doors. On arrival just drop them inside the cabinet. Bamboo chopsticks work too.

Sounds like a good idea.

The only door that opened on the way home was the one over the dinette. It's looser in the track than the others.
