Mounting a permanent sewage pump
Has anyone had any luck mounting a permanent sewage pump like the Sanicon on or near the discharge tube?
I'm also looking at the FloJet which seems to be more flexible but isn't an installed solution. I need something that pumps up hill and can easily tie into a homes clean out.

Yes, Ive had a Flojet macerator installed in my '59 Tradewind for about 5 years. Works great.
I plumbed the outlet to a tee next to the graywater outlet. I use a wireless keyfob to turn it off and on. Drains the tank in about a minute and no mess/no fuss.
Can't ever see myself wrestling the slinky.
You need to look at a permanent mount Flojet, not the portable model.

Good to know. My concern about permanent mount is that Airstreams don't have a sewage compartment. So how would I permanently install one?

I'll admit I did it during a total shell off restoration. It's mounted right under the blackwater tank and is totally inside the belly pan.
A 1" PVC pipe moves the 'stuff' forward to where the gray water outlet is located, so you can't see any of the plumbing other than the two discharge valves.
It was a lot of work, but worth it every time I need to make a dump.

This is great info! Never thought of retro fitting it. And you have a remote phish button that activates it all? Unreal! I've got an Airstream International Signature series, nice trailer and I live in it full time. I'm totally figuring things out and this Forum has saved my bacon (and a $100k trailer!). Do you have a picture of your configuration, or remote, or trailer? Would love to see it and pass on to my contractor that could help install.

Be VERY sure that nobody puts anything into your toilet that can't be easily ground up. My B-I-L graciously allowed one of his family members to use the Airstream and they didn't know not to put paper towels in the toilet. Guess who had to clean it up. (Sorry to rat you out, B-I-L)!

In the pic you posted of the portable tote. It appears you have the hose connected to the discharge instead of the inlet on the tote.
Perhaps I am looking at it wrong.

@TG Twinkie: there is only one hose on the tote which is an inlet and outlet.

I'll get some pictures but they're on my old computer and I need to turn it over and shake it so the picture fall out. I'll get you some later.

Airstream waste tank discharge ports are rather low to the ground. Many times I found my slinky discharge elbow at the campground sewer connection higher than my trailer. I tried those hose supports, but slinky's are so flimsy that I would still have water trapped in the hose.
I use the sani-con "tank buddy" portable system and find it works well. I have a long power cord that I attach to battery terminals at the front of the trailer as I didn't hard wire the unit in. It needs 10ga wires I believe. The sani-con does well at macerating and pumping the tank contents "up hill". I think it could easily pump water 5' up. (head pressure)
They do make a gray tank bypass for this pump, which is handy for extended stays, but I use gray water to rinse my black tank and sani-con. So every other day or so I simply go outside, open the valve, flip the switch and pump out the tanks.
It would be challenging to plumb in a permanent macerator pump into your trailer's waste water drain pipes. There isn't a lot of room under there. This thread may reveal others who have done it. Maybe you could leave your pump attached to the trailer during extended stays?

Robin, I couldn't get my old desktop to work, but there are pictures of my macerator pump installation in Photos\Member's Photos\Markdoane.
