Leaking Under Sink

Our under sink in-line water filter just started leaking water the other day. Like someone loosened the fitting for a practical joke. I replaced the filter with the winterizing bypass hose and the leak stopped. Then again this morning a slight leak which I simply tightened down more and nothing has happened today. Water supply connected at all times...

Anyone have any thoughts of have experienced this? I have such weird problems...

I had similar problems with our 2012 23FB and our 2015 25FB. In both Airstreams we had water leaks at the filter and by-pass tube connections. I have found from experience that you have to be very careful to make sure that the gasket at the connections are straight and properly seated.

Interesting. Well once the season is over I may just plan to bypass the bypass then! All those 90's in there to accommodate that filter seem like a bad idea anyway. Thanks for the reply.

FYI, 2015 27FB
My filter is bypassed and last weekend we developed a leak too. I could not find its origin. She's going in for warranty work in 3 weeks, maybe they can find it.

Mine is definitely coming from the fitting that lets you screw on and off the water filter. The one closer to the front. It might be a deteriorating gasket but at 6 months old I find this very odd.

In line filters are trouble for leaks. The vibration of travel can loosen even a tight connection.

Remove the filter entirely. If you need a filter use one at your hydrant city water connection where it will be outside and easy to connect at each place you stay.

Yeah, I ordered and installed a Camco in line filter for outside. I cinched down the fittings on the under sink bypass as hard as I dare go. No water in three days, knock on wood. Lousy design under there for sure. Thanks all!

My leak was from the blacktank backflush valve leaking, fixed under warranty.

Under sink leaks

All of the plumbing around the elbow of a sink is hand tightened - and on an RV that can vibrate loose. About every six months you need to re-tighten the drains.

They can't be glued because you may need to clean out hair, other clogs - or find that missing diamond from your engagement ring... so hand tightened is functional.

A careful coating of plumbers putty will help keep things tight and leak free

There is also teflon in a tube that's safe for pvc and it doesn't set up like glue(@HD) I've used it at home and in other plumbing repairs. I too had a little leak under AS sink. Hand tighten and check when I think of it.
