Does anyone who owns an AS see a need to stow a folding expandable ladder?

I always carried one to clean off the slideouts on other TTs.

I carry a four foot step ladder because it helps me to put up the awnings, etc. never had the need to get up on the roof while traveling. So if you have the cargo capacity a ladder may be okay. Jim

I have only needed a ladder once while out. I replaced a television cable and barrowed a ladder from a friend in another club we belong to, all of which own box type (sob) trailers. Due to the rounded shape almost everything blows off while driving. If you feel that you need one than carry one.

We carry a small ladder two steps and a platform high enough to reach awning hold down. Try not to carry to much just enough for emergency repairs if needed. Make repairs at home where can take my time and do a much better job than in a campsite.

I see the need but haven't purchased one yet. There are times such as lubricating the antenna, repairing Fantastic Vents, caulking, etc. that one needs access to the roof.

If you're a weekend/short-term camper this kind of stuff can be done at home or your storage area. If you're traveling more extensively (even if not full-time) your time on the road begets issues on the roof that need to be resolved so therefore a need for some sort of ladder.

We carry a "Little Giant" collapsible ladder, it is very light, simply pick it up by the handle on the platform and it collapses. When set up it's a four foot ladder. Also, very stable.

I bought one for any time I need to get on the roof various reasons. Since we are going full-time, access to a ladder is a must since I won't be able to "go home" to get one. Never know if something needs caulked or taped up to stop a leak, etc. Just my thoughts on why I have one.

In most campgrounds, just stand in front of the trailer, look skyward and scratch your head. Ten guys will appear and at least one of them will have access to a ladder. Several will offer to help unless one is a lawyer. In that case disband and try again later...

I carry a ladder like this one. It is tall enough for me to more easily operate the awning latches and to put up the under awning lights.

I couldn't get any TV reception one day. I turned the antennae so it stuck out over the door, and noticed the cable was not connected. As I'm standing there, looking at it, a fine young man comes by.

He tells me I need a new connector put on my cable. Not to worry, he has a ladder and tools. He comes back with everything he needs, fixes my problem, and goes away.

If I had a ladder, I'd probably just fall off of it and hurt myself.

Being a "be prepared" kinda guy, I carry a 4-foot aluminum stepladder and a 12 foot Extend-a-Step telescoping ladder in my tow vehicle (half ton pickup with a cap). Both have come in handy many times.

Telescoping Ladder by Extend A Step

One of the reasons for carrying the ladders is to get at antennas on the pickup cap and trailer, which is necessary from time to time.

I carry an extendable step ladder that can be unfolded and used as a regular straight ladder.

If it were just for getting up on the roof, I would rather have just a collapsible straight ladder as it would take up less space, but I find the step ladder style handy to caulk windows, wax the trailer, etc.

We tow with a truck with Leer cap, so storage space isn't really a big deal although it often requires some unpacking to get it out.

If we are stopping at one spot for a week or so, I usually get it t and store it under the trailer.

This 4 step is a nice one and handy to have while traveling. I especially like the wide step platforms. Easy on the feet.

Thank you everyone. I could see needing one for awning challenges.

I tried a less expensive version but returned it....

If I'm going to fall off a ladder, I want it to be my fault....not the ladders.

Put it in the bag and slide it into the Classics trunk....done

I carry two, as a Boy Scout is always prepared!
Xtend & Climb 760P Telescoping Ladder, 10.5-Foot which would allow me access to the roof if needed. I don't take it on short trips, but do on cross country month long trips, just in case.

and a folding step stool from Camping World. It folds flat. I keep it in the back of my truck 24/7 as it makes getting in and out of the bed very easy for my short legs. I can also use it easily to help with the awnings.
