For all the seasoned peeps out there - Is financing smart?

If you are savvy and have good credit you can negotiate the finance rates with the dealer just like the price on the RV or trailer.
Most of the time they have better rates available,but you need to do your home work first.

We saved for 4 years and financed the difference @ 3.74. The payments are low enough where it'll be paid off in five years.

I try to borrow from myself whenever possible, even if it means saving at least 50% then paying myself back at the same rate I borrowed the difference.

Note: we shopped the loan - Costco/Essex, credit union, USAA...and after a weeks worth of one-ups we figured the rate was fair and the transaction fast.

Did have enough saved to pay taxes instead of rolling that into the financed amount, and declined the extended warranty.

We are able to deduct the interest on our AS loan on our taxes. That coupled with a low interest rate made financing for us very reasonable.
