It's odd to me that they (Airstream) don't have an exact diagram... I've never called them but feel as if I should let them know about my confusion. I'm sure they'll care! The two diagrams you attached just make me scratch my head even more... why draw them in 3D if they're not accurate... which they're not to mine at least.
I did learn that the black tank is oriented differently than I was imagining. I pictured it running parallel to the grey tank.
Right on about testing with open dump valve once both are empty. I suppose I could test with just the empty grey tank as well... if it doesn't show up there, it's obviously in the black tank. We shouldn't have to be performing such scientific experiments though. Come on Airstream! Stop pretending these aren't production vehicles!
It's official! My 2015 Intl Signature 25FB bathroom sink drains to the grey tank. This afternoon I fully drained the grey tank and once done, I ran the sink. And it came right on out at the same rate.
We have a 2016 International and had some plumbing questions. We spoke to someone in Jackson Center who pulled up the schematics on our trailer and it was confirmed that the bathroom sink water dumps into the black tank.

You should test it out! Next time the grey tank is empty and you're hooked to water, open the (grey) dump valve and run the sink.
