We took out the side bench replacing it with a small recliner I cut the table down so the chair would fit Now we are both comfortable and have plenty of room I also purchased a small footstool for me. The top lifts off for storage

That's a great idea. I was wondering if you missed all that lost storage. I'd prefer a recliner myself.

Help with cabinet maker

I am in the process of duplicating the above modification to replace half couch with a recliner and a cabinet with fold out table. I contacted Roettger Hardwood in early Dec 2016 and am still on their waiting list. Does anyone out there know of an alternate cabinet maker that does this type of work? I am in Tucson AZ. 2015 Flying cloud, 27FB

I sure do not. Ended up building my own which has worked very well for us.
Have been pleased with the resulting space utilization. I had explored having it built but seemed the cabinet shops around here were really not interested in such a small job. I posted the details in a separate thread. Good luck with your project.

Table & Recliner

I like what you have done for a table and recliner. Would it be possible to get the measurement for the table, also recliner.

I know you posted this several years ago, but we are planning on doing much the same remodel. Do you still like the set up? Also, to the two leaves on the side of the table come off, and if so, where do you store them. There are two of us, and I was wondering if we would need a wider table the the table you have without the leaves. Thanks so much.

Hi DBSteed — yes, I still like the setup very much. One of the best changes I’ve made to the interior. As for the leaves on the sides, they do come off and they store very nicely on top of the short bolster cushion behind the sofa seat back cushion. In fact, they make a very nice shelf there and, with a coaster, I can set a cup on it and not worry about it tipping over.

To be truthful, I don’t use the leaves hardly ever. I usually travel alone in my trailer or maybe with just 1 other person and we don’t feel like we need them. We prepare our dinner plates in the kitchen and take them to the table rather than trying to place serving dishes on the table.

My trailer is a 23D (now called a 23CB) and at 23’ in length it is in the narrow body category at 8’ in width. Trailers over 23’ will have an 8.5’ width which would allow for a little bit more width in your table.

If I were to change anything in the setup it would be with the chair. There was an option to get an inside lever to release the reclining mechanism but I didn’t get it. I wish I had. This would have saved some precious room on the outside of the chair on the right side where the more traditional release lever is. It gets in the way just a little bit when I fold the table up or down. It’s a minor inconvenience but wanted to mention it.

I had them build me the identical table last spring for an 8 1/2 ft. wide trailer (2007 28' FB). Dennis and Renee worked with me very patiently over an extended time period and were helpful and friendly with me and my naive questions over email, then called me to talk options and colors etc. So they now have the dimensions for a table in a wide body trailer. Be forewarned that they give you almost too many options....type of wood, color, finish, shelf behind, etc. If you chose to use the measurements from our table last fall I would only caution that you measure the angle of the back wall and adjust to your specific trailer. The angle I calculated is off a bit so I had to shim the table to make contact with the the whole foot on the floor. I also highly recommend making a road trip to pick the table up, meet their plant foreman, and take a tour of Jackson Center. BTW, as well my wife and I do not often use the side wings. They provided me two bags to store them in that I put on the floor of our closet.

I forgot to mention, we have the same model rocker and being a front bedroom model do not have the issue with the recliner lever. However given the snug fit if we had a rear bedroom I would agree to get the optional inside lever.

And the recliner is very comfortable. My son regularly sleeps in it rather than the bed when he comes to visit and is watching movies in the "guest cabin".

Thanks Hoonanea and bweybright! We love this look. We are also incorporating KJRitchie's ideas in his 2008 Classic remodel reveal by shortening the sofa and adding a small cabinet under the tv. Airstream has the concept in their Airstream Tommy Bahama 27FB. https://www.airstream.com/travel-tra...ler/floorplan/ We are also converting to twin beds as well.

It still leaves a nice sofa and adds additional counter space and storage. We are just beginning this remodel. We will post pictures when complete.
