I have a large nylon mesh playpen for my indoor-only cat so she can come outside without me having to worry about her running off. A beach umbrella provides shade to the playpen when necessary, or I can set up the playpen upside down so that the mesh top is on the bottom and the solid fabric bottom is on top to provide shade, or both. And a wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer allows me to monitor the temperature inside the playpen to make sure my cat doesn't overheat; on really hot days she stays inside where it's air-conditioned because for a pampered indoor cat keeping cool is more important than meeting the local wildlife— or their pets!

Yes, my cat is spoiled rotten, and knows it.

Cats were once worshiped as gods, and they have never forgotten that.

Dogs have a pack and family, cats have a staff to serve them.

If dogs could talk, they would tell us how much they love us. If cats could talk, they wouldn’t.

My cat was a great traveller after 2 days on the road. Once I crank the engine he hops in his seat and is ready to go!Click image for larger version

Had a friend growing up, he had a big Siamese cat that loved to ride. He would sit on the back of the seat, draped over Frank's shoulder enjoying the sun and the ride in the convertible...with the top down, of course.

Some cats like travel, others really hate it, sadly.

We're a dog family, so our only traveling issue has been regular potty breaks for the doggies, and regular walks. Most of our pups love to travel, and if not stopped, will jump into the car and take their usual positions for a ride...one really hates it, apparently, and needs a 'special invitation' to get him into the travel crate for a trip with his buddies. I think he 'puts up with travel' as long as we are together as a group.

I need to get one of those play pens. We are getting ready to hit the road again. I did work with the leash last trip.....quite a challenge!
