Airstream returns to the bike pull

Airstream may be considering a new lighter trailer that could be pulled by a bike.

You may not be old enough. One of the original Airstream ads showed a trailer being pulled by a bike. That and the multi sectional end made me question if they were test marketing some ideas.

Thanks, HowieE, for posting this link to the article, "Living Inside A Bicycle-Pulled 'Stealth' Camper," illustrated with the fascinating YouTube video:

Airstream returns to the car pull

In fact, Airstream will be launching a new, lighter trailer that can be pulled by a standard car, the Nest, expected to be launched late 2017 or early 2018!

SilverGate - do you work for AS? I don't have a problem with it either way, but you seem exceedingly excited about the Nest and if you DON'T work for them, you probably should! 😀

It appears Aitstream will be launching a new, lighter trailer that can be pulled by a standard car, a year in advance of their Nest launch in 2017. See the videos from the recent dealer meeting.

This demonstration was replicated by members of the Vintage Airstream Club at the 1999 WBCCI International Rally held in Dayton, OH. Some photos from this demonstration can be found at the following link -- the VAC demonstration trailer is flying the US Flag.

I remember taking some photos during the event as well as a couple movie clips.

Yes, if I can trust my memory, there was a trailer brake controller and small battery mounted on the bicycle. Several of the VAC members who tried pulling the 1948 Liner with the bicycle noted that it was a challenge to keep the rig in anything approaching a straight line.
