WBCCI Amateur Radio Club 50th anniversary

Not new but still vibrant and growing! We are the WBCCI ARC, an intraclub started in 1963 and going strong. We have rallies in California, Ohio, and Florida every year and are working on rallies somewhere near the Rocky Mtns.

Our more than 300 members are licensed amateur radio operators in U.S. or Canada (and some both). Any level of current amateur radio license is acceptable.

The WBCCI ARC sponsors nets 364 days a year (every day except "Field Day"). Nets are hosted in California, Rocky Mountains, mid-U.S., and eastern U.S.

For more information about this intraclub, its history, mission, joining, and nets schedules, please click on this link.

I get there 2-4 times a week. My schedule is a little out of the norm, so I can't make it every day.

The eastern US 40 meter net is good, and sometimes I get in on one of the 20 meter nets at noon or 1700 eastern.

We are members, unless I forgot to pay my dues....

If I recall I tried to check into this net several years ago and they would not accept a checkin because I was not WBCCI. So I never went back. They wouldnt want me anyway cause I am opinionated about the club.

There is no question asked about RV ownership of any kind, upon check in.

One is not required to be a member of the WBCCI to join the Radio club.

no membership required

Jeff is correct -- "One is not required to be a member of the WBCCI to join the Radio club."

The nets are open to ALL licensed amateur radio operators -- regardless of whether they even own an RV. Of course it does not matter if they own an Airstream or belong to WBCCI.

WBCCI is the sponsoring organization, they do not operate the nets or the WBCCI Amateur Radio Club. Check it out -- friendly groups of hams on both coasts and inland too.

I have checked into the 40 meter net sporadically since the late 60's and as recently as this morning.

You do not need to be an Airstreamer. I have attended a number of the rallies and I good percentage of those attending are other brands.
I believe you do have to be in the WBCCI to be an officer

I check in from time to time. It seems very welcoming to all RVers, regardless of affiliation with WBCCI.

I have been a member since 2010 and am a net control station on the East Coast 40 meter net. We never ask if one is a member of WBCCI. We allow checkins from non-RVers, too. It's an open net and we welcome everyone with at least a general class amateur radio license (that's a FCC requirement to operate on this frequency). We normally have 25-30 checkins from 0700-0800 ET and about the same number from 0800-0900 ET. We don't usually discuss likes or dislikes about WBCCI and we don't normally engage in political or religious discourse. We usually exchange pleasantries, the local weather, significant things we've been doing that might be of general interest. Come check us out. We'd love to have you.

The response from active club members has been nothing but polite and inviting I will have to fire up one of the rigs and check in.

Check in on 40m Monday thru Friday Mornings...

I usually check into the WBCCI ARC Rocky Mountian RV Service Network every weekday morning from 0630 (early-bird check in) until 0800 on 7.184MHZ. The net controllers rotate daily and we typically get 20-30 check-in's from central to west coast HAMs. Most are RV'ers, many are WBCCI ARC members, and a good percentage are just mobile HAMs RV'ing around the countryside. The net calls out for local HAM WX reports or any news that the operator chooses to share. One thing in common with the group is RV enthusiasm. I encourage all of you HAMs on AirForums to check in anytime and enjoy chewing the rag with this great group of amateur radio operators.

This club also operates an eastern "net" of radio-connected RVers - not all Airstreams - just for safety and knowing where each other is at the moment. Anyone with a Ham Radio license is welcome to join in - 0700-0900 Eastern time every day at 7.191 MHz. Valuable service and great people - I like this club!

Hi All. I have been checking into the Eastern 40 meter net on 7191khz between 0700 and 0900 for several years when I think if it. They are always friendly and it is good to hear all the temps from up and down the east coast.

If you attend Hamcation in Orlando you can camp with the club and do some serious happy hours and pot lucks!

I check in infrequently, usually when we am camping in some remote location like Death Valley or the California Desert. I would echo that while we are members of WBCCI they do not ask for our member number or what type of RV we have. Most people do describe if their are camping, snow birds or full-timing in their rig, where they are located, the current weather, etc. It was a friendly and useful net with coverage from NM AZ and CA north to WA. The weather was important the weekend I was in Death Valley; there were strong storms to the West & North and some wind to the south & home but the rain there had passed.
