Yep, looks like an old railroad bunkhouse to me. Seen a couple in pictures...never in person. I might have to search this one out since it's so close to me ~ talk about a rally hopper!!!!

Third one

This is the third one I have seen. There is one in Osino, NV, you can see it from I 80. I have seen (in person) the one in Portola, CA. at the RR museum there. This one is also an old Western Pacific RR bunkhouse model. The stripe is a dead give away.

Now if I had the room to park it..........Dang, and the time to restore it........double dang !

But it's big enough, you can park your Caravel inside? Right?

Interesting!!!!!

Remember seeing a mention of one located on a RR right of way.... but don't recall that one being for sale.... How much are they asking for it - anybody know??? Delivery could be an issue.

SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

Wonder why they only have 2 axles on a '40, but offer 3 on the '34's....

One the unit at the museum, what was the interior like??? Photos? Was it set up as an office, or purely bunking for workers? Kitchen? or was that likely in another area/trailer.... What about water, bath, etc.... Questions!!!

As for me, in addition to the TT being too far for me to go and get it, the fact that it doesn't have ANY pano windows at either end is the deal killer for me. Oh, and it won't fit into any SP's around here either.....

Interesting find, and I am REALLY looking forward to hopefully getting a few of the questions answered....!

I LOVE ASF!

Axel

I wonder how those things towed with only two axles. I suspect that they were moved to the area where needed, and then towed only a short distance.

Shari, you should pick it up for the VAC, make a great showing in the parade, a project for seminars and place for Happy Hour.

40ft Airstream

Yes Carol we do have a photo gallery of the 40ft Airstream in Portola

Zephyrs Blog Archive The long, long, Airstream trailer (needs work)

There is another example near the bottom of this photo gallery. This is from Pee Wee.
Early Airstreams and other trailers

The SNU has been in contact with the Portola Railroad musem and there is a very good possibility we will be restoring the one they have. Still working out the details.
