Hi Sheldon:

The Wally Byam's Caravanners and Club Members Directory for 1960 shows #2674 belonged to Willard and Josephine Davis, 1120 No. 7th (Nob Hill), Colorado Springs, Colorado. I imagine they were the locals who drove your 1956 Bubble to the top of Pike's Peak.

Pikes peak club

Sorry to dwhite, but the pikes peak emblem that you would like is a decal sticker adhered to my bubble. When polishing the bubble I will cover both decals so to protect them.
And I will contact 66overlander on his books, forrest. Will post the outcome. Thanks, lew

Pikes Peak tow car

I am still trying to determine if the Bambi , Bubble, or 18 Footer that made the publicity stunt drive up Pikes Peak was towed by a Ford Thunderbird.

I was 10 Years old when we attended the 3rd international Rally at Colorado Springs. We drove up Pikes Peak on the 4th of July (it snowed at the Peak) and I remeber someone towing a small Airstream up that day. I still think it was towed by a Thunderbird, but I have no pictures.

Has anyone run across any stories or pictures that confirm this?

Dealer & Driver

A Little more info on the people pictured in the Pikes Peak photo:

Harold & Belle Chisman (Airstream Dealer) WBCC #338 Colorado Springs, CO

Jac Davis (driver) WBCC #94 Los Angleles, CA

The article mentions that Harold Chisman was always pulling publicity stunts to promote his Airstream dealership. This reinforces my recollection that he used a Thunderbird to tow the Airstream.
