What I don't completely understand the criticism by some that it was the Seals that were responsible for the rescue, specifically, team 6.
All these "exspurts" spouting off on the cyber-web just don't have a clue.

They are selfless hero's and we will probably never know their names, they know it and we should accept it.

Looking for a women's group

Hi! I am a new owner of an Airstream Flying Cloud 19". I have searched the web for trailer clubs that have women only. I came across a club named "The Silver Sisters" for women owners of Airstreams. How do I get in contact with them? I am a recent widow, and this club sounds like great fun for me!
Thanks everyone!

To all

In a week many of us will be enjoying the Memorial Day weekend in our AS so I ask that you please take the time to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces and those who are currently serving and our veterans who all help make this such a great Country to live in.

And please do not forget their families who in a different way but no less significantly also made sacrifices.

John and Claire

Gulf Coast partner of Army soldier

I am glad to find this club/group!

My partner of 4 years joined the Army this year, doing OSUT at Fort Leonard Wood. I pulled our Airstream 700 miles to attend his graduation. He appreciated having a 'little bit of home' there as soon as he got his first family day pass! The next day began our trip back home, leaving early afternoon from Missouri and stopping by his sister's in Nashville 'on the way' home, back to the AL gulf coast (home) for a few days of leave. After visiting a couple of hours with her and her family, we headed south and had to boondock at a truck stop, because I just couldn't drive anymore. After a good breakfast, we hit the road again and made it home that evening. We loved having our own restroom, bed, and kitchen while travelling.

He is now stationed at Ft. Hood, TX, and will be deploying as a combat engineer (route clearance) in Afghanistan in February. I have a week off from teaching at Thanksgiving and will take the 1990 Excella out to the base, staying at the lake recreation area there so that we can spend time together without costing him additional leave days.

It is good to hear of great places available to active military to camp. I just wish that spousal military benefits (i.e. military ID) were available for us so that I could make the reservations, as I have much more time to research and plan ahead than he does.

We love airstreaming and try to spend as many holidays in it as we can. We are members of WBCCI Greater New Orleans unit, and are part the Friends of Dorothy forum on here.

If you are in the Mobile/Pensacola area or/and are passing through, send us a message. We love to get together with other Airstreamers! There is even an Airstream-only park within an hour of here (Mystic Springs).

Hello from a fellow Combat Engineer of Vietnam vintage. I have many not so fond memories of Ft. Lost in the Woods, Mo. We were there several years ago for the 20th. Eng. brigade re-union and I was told there was no camping on the base. Has that changed since then ???? We stayed at a lousey motel out along Rt. 40 that had a few concrete pads for RV's. Tolerable but not nice at all.

There is a website for military campgrounds. Militarycampgrounds.us take a look and see what's doable for you. You'll find that there are more available then you ever thought possible. Good luck and enjoy

I stayed at a private campground where we were jammed in with a shoehorn, or so it felt. But, I was there to see my soldier and just glad to have a place with utilities to park. I didnt see any rv parking areas on base, although the fort's website mentioned some for active duty. Since I'm not considered a legal spouse and he just had earned his shoulder patch, that wasn't an option, yet.

He did enjoy the home made seafood gumbo made with gulf shrimp I heated up for him as a snack, though, after graduation before we hit the road! I think I figured out one reason why the Drill Sergeant didn't want them driving until they reported in to their duty station: for the first few days of his pass, every time he sat still for a few minutes, he would automatically fall asleep. I thought he might have developed narcolepsy, at first! Turns out he was just exhausted.

Hello and welcome from a few miles from Ft. Hood voxmaestro! If you need to know anything about camping around the Ft. Hood area, just ask. I think we've stayed at nearly all of them. Good luck to your Soldier in Afghanistan.

Not to hijack a thread, but its my mothers recipe, made with fresh shrimp right off the boat caught by my neighbor. It makes a difference in flavor & texture.

We don't get shrimp that fresh here in the NE. But when we travel south it's a great treat. Now you got us interested in the Gulf Coast if we make a trip south in March.

Thanks, gives me something to look forward to this winter

I just received best Veteran Day's card ever from my 8 year old grandson. There class had to make a card thanking a Soldier. He wrote his to me. It said" Thank you for protecting our country. To the best Soldier I know: Grandpa". He even drew the American flag on the back.
You all know where this is going right on the middle of the refrigerator for all to see.

My thanks to all of the veterans out their for your service to our Great Country
