Spent almost four years at Clinton-Sherman AFB. Western OKLA. SAC B-52 & KC-135. 1960 to 1964. Our mission; Flying “Operation Crome Dome”. TDY to Anderson AFB, flying to the make believe action. Then the B-52’s were new. Just think about this the last B-52 came off the factory line in 1964. Might good airplane. Thanks for your services. Keeping us safe

1958 pay scale

Not sure how many are old enough to remember how much we got paid back then.

I came in at $99.37 a month.

In 1979 my first Coast Guard pay checks were about $145 every two weeks. Lived in barracks and on a meal card so only deductions were taxes and savings bonds. However I had a new car payment of $120 month and insurance of $65 month that had to be paid first!! So I had about $50 per check to spend on other stuff. It gave new meaning of living payday to payday...haha!! Draft beer in the EM Club was .25 per glass on Fridays. That was best place to go on a date with only $10 to spend!!

Proud of the Tradition

My father served 43 years (Aviation W-5, AGR). My uncle, his twin, served 43 years (Infantry, MSG, AGR). I just crossed over 22 (LTC and active) and am still serving. Yes, I am glad the pay has improved!

Don’t have any input on pay scale over the years, but I am VERY thankful for my husband’s ARANG retirement and Tricare benefits. Without that, I would still be teaching and missing out on every activity/event out grandkids are in. We also would probably NOT have our new AS. Thanks to each of you AND your families for your service to our country.

Yes, we have just recently joined SMART. Attended my first luncheon and meeting last week and hope to attend a muster soon. Good folks!

I use that site for all the military camgrounds. There is also a youtube channel for military camgrounds and they might have a tour of Barksdale AFB.
