Cheatham Annex (near Yorktown, Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg) was great - full hookups including cable. They also have a new area with great facilities - spots are closer together though. Great trails, ponds and local history.

I asked a local about Wright-Patterson AFB famcamp - he said it was bad, but the camp at the factory is not far away and the AF Museum is a must-see.

Hey there polarlyse,
I Actually work on the academy and our camper is stored on base. For any military Id holders, it is really is a super nice park. Clean, Treed spots, full hookups and a helpful office staff.
Also ideal, if you are visiting the area during football season. Catch a game, schedule on goairforcefalcons.com. super fun if you have never been to a service academy game. doesn't matter what branch tested our camper first night we had her at the fam camp. At the time, the number of spots available were reduced. We were told they were working on certain areas in the campground. Should be done by now I would think. We were blessed to have been stationed on the Academy in the 90's and doubly blessed that we were able to come back to colorado springs and retire. Living the dream!

Try Camp Delmar on Marine Base Camp Pendleton CA near Oceanside. Right on the beach and 25 miles of beach to walk. No place like it in So Cal.

Hello. I am a new AS owner currently stationed at Ft Hood. Would like to find other AIrStreamers in the area with whom to visit and assist.

I knew there should be other airstreamers out there! My partner is in Ft Hood and I bring my rig out there to visit him. I have camped several times at the Fort Hood travel camp on Clarke Road. I can tell you from experience late fall is brutally cold and sometimes windy.

I'm at that RV park and it's a nice community. When are you planning your next trip out here?

I hope I don't have to make that trip out there during the holidays. I am hoping my partner will be coming home for them. One never knows, though.

There is a rv park in Moab Utah that gives 3 free days of camping to active military, we stayed there last week. nice park, spaces close together, gravel pads and drives, lots of sand but who camps for the park. I wish I could remember the name, it was off the beaten path and cheap but free is cheaper than cheap.

ALCON,

Over the summer I happened to be camping at a park that was a member of Tents for Troops. They automatically gave me two free nights of camping. I highly suggest you see what parks are in your area of travels and take advantage of this stellar program.

Have a safe trip to your next PCS. As you travel across country you might want to check out the military campsites. They usualy are pretty good and reasonable.
