Airstream inspection
I am looking at an Airstream in Mississippi. Can anyone recommend someone in that area that can provide a professional inspection of a unit for sale there. I am located in Virginia and would like to have a firm handle on the condition of the unit before I make a trip down or an offer. Thanks!

It might help if you could be more specific. Where in Mississippi? It may not be as big as Texas, but the state is still a six-hour drive north to south, so narrowing down the possibilities would serve to refine your target audience.

I live in the northern part of the state and have checked out Airstreams several times for out of state folks looking to buy. Let me know the location of the trailer. As Protagonist said, our state is 6 hours north to south. I'll be glad to help you if I can.

If you go to the portal page ( the first grey tab underneath the large Airforums logo at the top of the page). Scroll down halfway down of the right, is a searchable (by state) inspector list. Feel free to PM any of those listed.

If it is located in south Mississippi for a "professional" inspection you can contact Foley RV/Airstream. They are located in Gulfport.

Question
Does this person has to be licensed by the state. Similar to home inspector.
Thank you in advance for your input.

No. Inspections are done as a courtesy. While care is taken, and inspectors are good-willed, you get what you pay for. More, actually.

Hi
If you have been through enough home inspections (licensed and all that) you eventually realize that the license stuff is pretty much bunk. That's been my experience with maybe two dozen home inspections.
RV's are very brand specific. Whatever you can say about "homes are each different", RV's are *way* different from each other. Far better to get somebody who is familiar with the way this manufacturer does things (and the problems) than somebody who has never seen one before.
Yes, this is a bit different than the advice you might get buying a home. There the advice is targeted at making the "findings" stick. Quick flash - they only stick if both parties drank the same Kool-Aid. If you are inspecting a trailer, both parties are much more likely to accept input from somebody who knows the brand than a random Joe.
In any case, trailer inspections are only advice. They have no force of law. Once the negotiation is over anything you heard is just "interesting". Going back and collecting $100,000 from the inspector .. not so much. If you dig into home inspections - same thing.
