Announcement: Airstreams on eBay BETA
It's with great pleasure to announce a new feature to the AIR Forums community. We have setup an automated system to pull eBay listings and create a new discussion in this forum where members can chat about the units being sold. The goal is to create a group review system of the listings in hopes of spotting scams, potential issues, great deals and other feedback members might have for a potential buyer. If we all pitch in to give our feedback, potential buyers will be able to better understand the unit they are bidding on.
This program is going to run in BETA meaning we might have to make significant changes or remove it all together from our community. We will be listening to feedback (please post to this thread) and evolving this feature.
With time we will look at adding other sources like Craigslist, RV Trader Online, etc...

I like this idea!
We have loads of interest in e-bay auctions and now a cool new way to discuss them. Putting my wallet in the freezer before I start surfing....

How do TTs qualify for this? A low opening bid?
Or will everything listed on ebaY eventually wind up on here with it's own post?
Just wondering who needs this. I mean, if you are looking for a TT, you watch ebay, right? Isn't this sort of an out of date way to look at something as dynamic as an auction site?
CL and Kijiji might be different, in that it's tougher to watch them, since one site=one geograpgraphic area on them. Also, scams are WAY more frequent on those sites, too. Also, ebaY is much better policed, and if you watch ebaY regularly, it's pretty easy to spot the scams.
Let's face it, the minute you list something here, it's out of date unless someone is chasing the listing and keeping the price up to date...

Question?
Is this setup as an Ebay partner (affiliate) wherein a referral or commision fee is paid if the sale is completed?

Speaking as a relative newbie, I would have loved the comments when we were searching four our trailer. Any comments such as 'seems high for what they are showing' would have help me gauge the relative worth of a unit.
Great add from my perspective.

Lately, everytime I try to open a link I get a welcome page on ebay and no trailers in sight!

... for people looking for good deals this feature will suck. All the good deals will vanish even quicker and the prices will go up due to the added exposure to the auction. Just my opinion.

It was mentioned in another thread a while ago that the link is "broken" in the sense that it doesn't lead to the actual TT on ebaY (for me and few others that posted about the same problem.
Just to say, it's still broken...

Ebay is blocking the hotlink from Airforums. You can still get the listing number and then go to Ebay to see the Airstream.

Leeper,
I forgot: there is no listing number in those posts. Perhaps that could be added?
I have to copy the title and hope there isn't the same one already in use, like a week or two ago, one just said "Airstream" in the title.
Plus by now, shouldn't member "ebay watch" be a Rivet master? LOL!

Hardly seems worth having the links if that's the case.

Seems to be working great. I was able to get right to the Ebay listing by hitting the link.
But I would like to forward yet another idea that could also help the AIR forums and prospective buyers like me.
Let say somebody has a nice Airstream for sale in the East Coast, but wants to be able to sell to a prospective buyer in the Left Coast. The person in the Left Coast cannot take time away from work to fly across the country to personally go see said unit that is for sale.
Why not have the seller find a nearby AIR member that would come to their house or vice versa to inspect the trailer that is for sale to give it a score from 0 to 100.
That way the buyer sees that the Ebay listing has an AIR score of 95 and can better judge if the asking price is really worth it.
I may have other suggestions to making the buying safer but I will wait till I get any feedback or comments on the AIR Score to help both the seller and the buyer.
I'm a newbie, so if this subject has already been covered I apologize in advance.

An AIR score is an interesting idea. We have something a little less formal - volunteer trailer inspectors; members helping out members. You can read about it here http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...ist-43294.html

Links still don't work.. Not sure the point is if it doesn't go to the AS. I can look it up myself...

I agree. It seems to me that it used to take you right to the page.

Aage, no Earthbound was a startup company that I think is now out of business. There is an Earthbound thread on this Forum. Look it up, some people got burned pretty badly.Interesting reading. I breifly looked at info on these when we were buying. Some of them literally broke apart. There is also an Earthbound escapees Forum.............. Food for thought.

For those that can't link via the "go to this auction link" ( I can't either). Try the "watch it button" that one works for me...then of course you have to remove it later from your watched items on eBay, but I like to see what they go for! I actually prefer it.
