What do the model letter designations mean ?

So a newbie sort of question I am sure but something I have not been able to find searching here.

What do the single and double letter designations signify ? (i.e. FB, FC, D, etc, etc).

Thanks !

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Hi and welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

FB - Front Bedroom, a floor plan designation.

FC - Flying Cloud, a trim level.

D - this has been used to designate a corner bed model in the 23 footer.

Brian

Using the desktop version of this site, the new search function in the blue box above works great! Here are the results for "abbreviations."

https://www.google.com/search?q=abbr...com&gws_rd=ssl

As you can see, there are quite a few threads which touch on this topic, notably:

Post #24 here: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...tml#post794022
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f483...ns-130295.html

"Acronyms" search results: https://www.google.com/search?q=acro...=airforums.com
The best resource IMO:http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...ist-28713.html

Plenty of reading material . . . good luck!

Peter

PS -- If you are using the App version of this site, it appears that the search function there does not work as well, from what I have heard.

Thanks for the replies, helpful and also explains why on some of our paperwork our 2017 20' Flying Cloud has an FB and also an FC designator.

So we have a 2017 FC FB Bambi (where Bambi at one time was apparently a "nickname" for the single axle Airstreams, but now actually yields the "Bambi" nameplate on the rear).

The FC is Flying Cloud. FB is front bed. FBT is Front Bed Twin. RB is rear bed.
The use of the terBambi has not remained consistent over the year. I have a Safari 2004 22 foot that clearly states in the literature that it is a "Bambi" but it has two axles. The current usage seems to favor the single axle trailerss being the "Bambi".

The previous links h other abbreviations. MY Safari is a 22 foot NB (narrow body) CB (Corner Bath or Corner Bed) and it is a Bambi with two axles.

Ours is a 2013 FC 20CNB. No clue what CNB stands for. C=Corner, but corner what? I know it's a corner bath, but you can't tell from the designation. NB= Narrow body, but it's wider than the 16' and 22' which are the narrow body, but narrower than 25' and over. It must have been confusing since they started calling the exact same trailer the FC 20FB shortly after 2013.

There are others:
SO: slide out
SOD: slide out dinette
SOB: some other brand
The forum needs a glossary for standard Airstream abbreviations.

The "best resource" link in Post #3 comes pretty close IMO:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...ist-28713.html

Almost 100 posts in the Forum Admin sub-forum.
