Truck camper years

Can anyone tell me the years that airstream made truck campers ? If I located one, would it fit a 2000 F350 ?

Airstream never made a truck camper.

Avion made a truck camper. Looked like an Airstream. I'm thinking 70's-80's.

As far as fitting your F-350 is concerned, it all comes down to the length of your truck's bed. I'm sure they made 6 and 8 foot models just as they do today. The bed in the picture I just posted looks to be a 6 footer.

If that site is correct, and I have no reason to believe they are not, it looks like the truck campers were only built in '68 and '69.

I always thought they built more of them than that.

In addition to bed length, you need to factor in bed wall height, cab height, and distance between wheel wells. Older campers were typically made for trucks with smaller dimensions, so they fit between the wheel wells, but sometimes require a platform under the camper to clear the cab and side walls. Take a tape measure with you when you go to look at it.

I remember seeing on that Avion site that they are asking for more information to be submitted regarding the truck campers.

They were built more years than that, into the mid-70's best as I can tell.

If you'd like to keep track of what folks have listed on Craigslist, I like to use SearchTempest: Search all of Craigslist nationwide & more . It's how I found my Avion trailer for sale 1000 miles away. In your case, search for Avion or Cayo to find those truck campers. They were badged with both names. (The Cayo family originated Avion, and still have an RV shop in Watervliet, MI. Their phone number is 269-463-5068 and are a great source of information.)

There are a couple on Craigslist now.... one is VERY nice 1974 model (I think). The other is not as nice, but appropriately priced. You'll see them in the entire range of repair. Be prepared to pay premium prices for the better ones. If your wallet can stand it, you won't be disappointed.

Here is one that is currently listed on Craigslist in Florida:
1972 CAYO TRUCK CAMPER

It is one of the nicest I've seen listed in a long time, but it's priced accordingly...... "reduced" to $9000. I have no idea what to expect a "fair" price to be, but it sure looks nice, and it already has extra skids under it to clear a taller truck bed. I wish I had the funds, I would see if I could snag this one!!! (No, I don't know the owner... I just wish I was the owner!!!)
