mo hos were BIG in 92......

check out he 'new classic'.....with most of the visible rivets ELIMINATED!

the 36' wast 117K$...not counting the protection plan.... wow.

the b-vans were a relative bargain at 41k$.......

legacy was the 'exciting new line'....and a diesel pusher...
here is a floor plan and ad......

the most affordable airstream moho ever!!

and note airstreams trendy motto........

"the best investment of a lifetime"

think the 'see more, do more , live more' guy wrote 'em both?

more dealers and dealer rallies.....

well here are the last 2 dealer ads....

tveeten was the FIRST airstream dealer in the usa....

before the jc plant was built...i think.

and like lots of shops claim today......the biggest....yadda, yadda

mr tveeten was a great guy....i purchased my first very shortly before he retired....and his youngins' took over....

he told me 'some times talent skips a generation'.......

he was proud that he had been in the biz so long.....
and sold such a neat product.....airstream trailers......

and he new almost every customer by name and their extended family...

he was a swede......and a nice old guy.....this dealership is long gone.....

he also had a 'checker cab' franchise....that's right he sold checker cabs...

i always thought a checker (modified) would make a great vintage t.v....

anyway, they did a yearly get-to-gether for customers.....sort of like the st. louis dealer does now...every other year...the 'we are family rally' in sedalia mo...

the northwest thing was very loose, very family, very food and drink...very fun.

ya know......a really BIG forum rally....

cheers

special combined edition of the wbcci and the caraVanner...

mailed to 80,000 owners and hopefuls....in 1992.

why i kept it, i have no idea......

now lets get markdoane to show us that 50s mag!!

I did enjoy the tour and passage back in time, yet it could almost be back to the future.

Your first dealer and the dealer rally, "we are family," sounds like it was a warm and friendly gathering. I wonder if it could be akin to Jackson Center's Homecoming, employees and Airstreamers together in a party atmosphere, families and people of all ages, interesting and fun activities, great food and entertainment, and geniune comradery. I guess that kind of interaction and level of involvement will never be out of style.

Services were far broader and extensive back then with higher levels of personal committment from dealers and Airstream. The Family Motor Coach Association was a club I had not known about. Gotta love those graphics in the ads, like the funny old postcards.

Look at that young Larry Huttle talking about trading weekends at the Marriot for vacations rving, new trends, production stepping up, and Airstreams "shining" with the baby boomers.

I think each and every one of us would probably agree that our Airstream means more to us than the sum total of its value as a product, good as that is, it's not about the Airstream in our life, but our life in the Airstream.

Thanks 2air for a great two part special.

someone asked in another thread...

what the blue beret publication is like...

well i've post exact scans of many pages from a 1992 sample right here.

and except for the dates and dealerships and the officer names...

the 2007 bb is virtually unchanged...

so read a page or 2 here tom....

cheers
2air'

take a close look at the pages in post #4 here....
it is the preliminary schedule for the 1993 international rally...
which was held in bismark n.d. that year...
