So tell us PeeWee, who are the other three individuals in this picture. Surely that's not Wally in the pith helmet? Where was the scout truck when this picture was taken? Had it already traversed this ravine?

Nick Charles is handling the other shovel. (Andy Charles, Son). The little guy is Mike Graboski. I'm forward. The gent in the pity helmet, maybe Mike's father Tony, or poassibly Norm Toten. Of note the second trailer in line is the gold trailer.
That's the best I can do Brad.

I am reasonably certain that the first truck and trailer in the photo is #342 belonging to Ralph & Lille Douglass. Lillie wrote the book "Cape Town to Cairo" about that African caravan.

As always, thanks so much for your contributions, Peewee. I am sorry I wasn't able to come up for the Cape-to-Cairo caravan, but I really do hope to see you again one day soon. Any chance you might be coming back to the Texas Vintage in 2010?

Joe, yes it is Ralph and Lillie's rig.
