Hey Jim,

When I read the title the first thought I had was "well, they are a tad late with that announcement are they."

Thanks for the info

Thumbs up

I couldn't access the NYT article without being a subscriber or paying $4, but I did find this article from the same time in history.

Interesting topic, Jim.

Wally's Funeral Service

In keeping with this thread, I want to share Wally's Funeral Program.

There were 100's of people, the chapel was filled and many stood outside.

Wally passed away on July 22nd 1962 and my Mother, Helen Byam Schwamborn, passed away on July 22nd 2004. I wonder?

They could be on the ultimate caravan Pee Wee.

A bit more distant than caravans in either of their pasts but all the same full of adventure, fun, and camaraderie.

Five years ago I sold my house and moved. Why do I mention this? I was reading about Wally and found that we had both lived in the Mt. Washington area of L.A. So I went over and looked at the house and yes it's small but you could easily fit 3 A/S's in the driveway side by side. It's on a narrow street with a very tight corner. I'm still not sure how he turned left out of his driveway pulling a trailer.

Yes, we have courtesy parking for you. About an hour North of Los Angeles.

The trailers were not brought up on Roseview, but up from the other direction. The rig went down the street to the left of his gate facing out from his gate. Once it was in place the trailer was backed into place. There was always one or two trailers there for guests. The house is a single bedroom. There is a lanai in the front with a swimming pool. The original floor was tiled in cork. There was copper tubing running underneath the floow of the house to move hot water to keep the floor warm for bare feet.

Amamzing how a man who made trailers can leave a footprint in history.

I suspect that no matter what path in life he chose he would have left a footprint.

Goin,

I think you are right. With some people it's not the profession they have chosen but how they leverage it that makes all the difference.
