Production number
We recently purchased a 1964 17 ft. Bambi II. The serial number on the title is:
S-017410089.
Does anyone know how we use this number to figure out the history & production number on our trailer?
Thank you.
The vin is the vehicle identification number. The serial number will tell you the date it was built, the size and model and how many of that size and model that year were made before that trailer was built. As you can see to the left our trailer is a 1987 but it rolled of the line October 23,1986.
All Bambi IIs were built in Jackson Center. Production numbers started with S- 017410001. Opinions vary as to how many were actualy built. Airstream records seem to be a bit hit or miss from that period.

Thanks. So the serial number and the vin number are two different things. Now some airstreams have titles. Is it true that the very old ones (60's) don't?
I believe that may be correct. My Bambi II was registered using the serial number.
